Do you know for a fact that Oakton does not have any 20 year old students? No seniors interested in freshman a mere 4 years younger?

I don't. But I DO know that MARSHALL HAS STUDENTS WHO ARE 20 YEARS OLD WHO ARE ALSO SEX PREDATORS. That is a known fact.

Nice spin, CNN.

Marshall HAD one student, who is 20 and is accused of child pornography involving a 16 year old classmate. That 20 year old is currently not a Marshall student, is in jail, and may be deported. No one even knows if that 20 year old was set to return to Marshall next year before all this started. Nor does anyone know for a fact if this offense took place at Marshall HS or one of the alternative HS programs in the county. The location is all based on his address and a Facebook page listing that he attended Marshall.
Regardless, it's over. Marshall will likely be the safest school for a while, as schools tend to overcorrect when stuff like this happens.

I thought Virginia law stipulated that a student can only attend the "regular" high schools through 19. Once the student turns 20, there are alternative schools.

Marshall has an alternative program on its campus. Perhaps he is/was enrolled in that.

Many schools in Fairfax county have adult night classes.

We live in Oakton. Close in. 20 minutes to DC by car off rush. Marshall is closer in, but much more urban. Oakton is more suburban. The school are about the same.

Marshall does not have an alternative program on campus, although Westfield, South County, and Robinson do.

^^^ I should have said, Marshall had a special education program on campus. (Davis Career Center) Many of those students are over age 19. ^^^^^

Davis Center is not an adult education program. It's a special education program. The 20 year old in question is not a special ed student.

He identified as attending Marshall and graduating in 2013.

Oakton used to have decent performing arts...good orchestra, band, drama, chorus. Not sure if that gas changed drastically over the past decade or so. Fairfax County's institute for the Arts is a great summer option for the boy, and a way to meet like-minded kids from other Ffx Co schools.

I recall that the Marshall community successfully removed the alternative school from the Marshall campus after the gang shooting incident in 98. I doubt the 20 y/o was enrolled at Marshall. Maybe when he was 19 he was still a student.

PP here, I just read the Davis Center comment. But I thought the alternative high school had been moved off the Marshall campus over ten years ago.

There was never an alternative program at Marshall. There was an alternative program at the Pimmit center in the middle of Pimmit Hills.

If you are an ESOL student, you can stay in regular high school in FCPS until you turn 22.

That should change. 19 should be the limit for all students, no exceptions. A 22 year old student is not even remotely a teenager. College graduates are often 22.
