S/O kids have been eating pop tarts daily

Is this a local school?

OP what the hell kind of school is this that can order Chinese takeout for lunch? Some kind of homeschool coop?

Must be a troll - what legit school is feeding kids pop tarts and Chinese take out? Private school parents would never tolerate it and none of the public schools around here are sourcing their food from the local takeout place.

Kool-aid?!?! I'd lose my shit.

Op here, it's not a private but
it is "independent"

No fat folks in my house so I don't worry about the extra calories.

Enjoy your diabeetus.

Give me a break. Sugar doesn't cause diabetes.

But doesn't eating junky and sugary food increase the chances of becoming overweight and/or a Type 2? diabetic?

Overeating and sitting on your fat butt all day increase the risk of being overweight and developing diabetes. I could eat a box of Poptarts a day and not gain a pound because of the intensity of my exercise program.

Genetics are also a factor, even if you exercise a lot

Independent schools can do this and get away with it. They are raking in the money, and pizza hut is probably giving the school some nice incentives to keep them. I would be making my kids lunch everyday. This is so sad, but it happens.

I should start by saying I ate a pop tart every day I was pregnant (one of the few things that didn't make me sick). But if I was paying for a healthy snack, and was told it would be HEALTHY, I would be pissed it was a pop tart. Pop tarts are delicious, but not healthy. The fall more into the occasstional treat.

My son was in a preschool where we were told they had healthy snacks. He was only 2.5, but one day he was explaining his snack.....not just a donut, but one of those hostess fake chocoloate covered things. I think I brought it up and was told the kids won't eat the healthy options. Go figure - tommy - do you want a carrot or a donut? WE changed preschools.

Anonymous wrote:Op here. Thanks pps it's more like $600 a yr for 3 kids. I talked to another mom who said that she knew this and also apparently they are not feeding them good lunches either. I asked dcs did they like the school lunch and they always say yes... That's because they alternate between Pizza Hut pizza, Chinese takeout from the carry out next door and fried fish made at the school. They can either drink kool aid, milk or sweet tea. It is a small school, only 15 in my dcs classes and it only goes infant to 1st grade.

The more I hear the more I am compelled to go to the school and complain. But for the next 2.5 weeks I will be packing dcs lunches and snacks. Also the school doesn't provide a menu but however says that they are providing a "wholesome and nutritious meal"

BS.

OMG! I would be pissed.
