I am the above Poptarts loving poster. For those that eat Poptarts. Try this!!!! Break up an Apple Poptart in a bowl. Nuke it for a few seconds. Top with vanilla ice cream!!!! TasteGasm!

| I eat 1 pop tart a day non frosted. It actually has less sugar then the organic whole foods ones. |
| Really? Pizza Hut, Carry out, and fried fish.....WTF!? And with young children, this is first time you've inquired about what they are eating? |
Could you give more information? What snack program is this? |
|
PopTarts are gross. Like cardboard with the dried jelly scum from around the top of the jelly jar.
Now, Toaster Strudels... those are good eats. (And seriously, what school is this?? I know my kid's charter school is exceptional wrt food, but even when she was at a middlin DCPS they didn't eat poptarts!) |
If you are paying $200 a year for a "healthy snack" then yes, I would be bummed out to discover that the snack was a Pop Tart. That said, I don't think the occasional Pop Tart is going to hurt anyone, particularly if the rest of their diet is balanced and nutritious. |
I packed their lunches up until January, when we had some family issues and I just started doing some things to make things easier. The kids had been asking for school lunch since sept. I was under the impression that sometimes they have pizza on Fridays. Other times when I may ask what did they eat for lunch, they say "broccoli and rice and chicken" which is what I am now learning is Chinese takeout. And they of course say "today we had fish" which sound healthy, they don't understand that baked fish and fried fish are a lot different. The kids haven't gained any weigh other than their typical weight/ height weight needs. As for the "type of program" idk, it is simply provided by the school. |
| You are not wrong. |
Occasional would be one a week. 5 a week is not occasional |
Yup, I get that. I included that as a counter to potential post that Pop Tarts = poison. I don't think they do. |
| Who cares |
| I wish I were eating a frosted blueberry Poptart right now. All we have are brown sugar Cinnamon. |
But doesn't eating junky and sugary food increase the chances of becoming overweight and/or a Type 2? diabetic? |
| I'd be pissed. Actually, I'd demand my $200 back, as it wasn't used for what I was told it would be used for. |
Overeating and sitting on your fat butt all day increase the risk of being overweight and developing diabetes. I could eat a box of Poptarts a day and not gain a pound because of the intensity of my exercise program. |
