Which of the "top 3" or "top 5" private schools has the best track record at the Ivies?

It's a vaguely anti-Semitic reference to the alleged demographics at Georgetown Day School and Penn. something WASPs won't say in public.

I think you are right. Good catch. Yale actually has a higher percentage of Jews than Penn, which I also didn't know.

Try googling earlier DCUM posts OP. WSJ + Worth Magazine both did stories on this -- Worth in 2003 and WSJ later. All you have to do is google to find the most recent lists available.

Keep in mind, everyone, that college admission stats are also affected by the number of legacy kids. That is: many of the kids at top schools who go on to Ivies have a parent who attended the same school. Ask the schools about how the non-legacy kids fare in college admissions.

It is so obvious that the majority of theese ridiculous postings are from SAHM with nothing better to do than obsess and try to live vicariously through their children. Get a life already. As a woman, I'm seriously embarassed. Enough already, please just shut up!

Jewish studies or whatever. It's not hard to understand. Sephardic literature. The American Jewish Community. Introduction to Hebrew.

Ah, so those GDS kids are (Jewish) legacies. This board gets more nefarious by the post.

I dont know about Sidwell college stats, but I have heard that basically the entire Sidwell college counseling staff is turning over this year. Does anyone know if there's a reason?

I don't get why this is anti-Semitic either.

No, I think "Jewish courses" is an idiotic term. A class on the Protestant Reformation would not be described as a "Christian class," any more than a class on the Arabina Nights would be described as a "Muslim Class."

Huh? Did the PP say anything at all about Jewish kids, legacies or otherwise? Quit being paranoid. PP that college admissions stats at elite private schools are affected by the number of legacy kids. Children whose parents attended elite colleges are (unsurprisingly!) frequently found at elite high schools, and since most private universities give preference admissions to alumni kids, those kids get a "boost" in college admissions that is due to their legacy status rather than to the educational quality of the school or even it's college counseling. This is not a particularly controversial statement, and it has nothing to do with religion. If anything, the legacy admission boost is deeply discriminatory towards those minorities less likely to have had parents at elite schools, e.g., Asian-Americans.

Remember that this also doesn't count acceptances. I had a friend accepted to several IVYs. Attended only one. DUH.
