Which of the "top 3" or "top 5" private schools has the best track record at the Ivies?

Anonymous
The short answer to OP is “whichever school admits the most students destined to be admitted to Ivy League schools” (because they are excellent students and/or have some hook (legacy, athletic, diversity) that will help get them into an Ivy League school). The top private schools in this area are all capable of allowing students destined for an Ivy League school to reach their potential. The choice of a school for your unique child depends on fit – don’t expect any school to offer a path to the Ivy League that other top private schools do not offer.

I love DCUM and their focus on the Ivies.

I cannot think of a single Centi-millionaire who is self made in DC who went to any Ivy.

All my employees are Ivy. None of their bosses are.

There aren't that many cent-millionaires in DC, but you can bet that most will want to send their kids to an Ivy for the same reason they hire ivy grads - good education, polished, strong connections.

They do make excellent employees. Frees me up to play more.

Here is an article about the undergraduate institutions of hedge fund managers. I'm guessing that is the kind of thing OP is hoping her kid will become.

looks like an equal mix of liberal art colleges, state universities, and ivies

There are a lot. I can think of 20. I don't know any that were self made whose kids are going to HYP.

So, now that most Ivy League and highly selective universities have communicated decisions, which DC private gets the 2015 trophy and bragging rights for most Ivy? GDS or has another school usurped the crown?

Nice trolling.

Really GDS CAT? Only you.

GDS was never the best at placing Ivies from. They just shout the loudest. The big Three - STA, NCS and Sidwell have always had very strong showings. STA and NCS get kids in on academics + have the added placements from their strong sports programs. Sidwell holds the Ivy crown this year in the area, perhaps the nation, if what I have read here is true.

Most of my staff went to ivy schools or Stanford. So did I. Am not really looking for my team to free me up to play, though, so I can't speak to that. My team is a strong and effective group, though, and I am very proud of our work.

Obviously TJ and Blair have a great track record. The well-regarded publics do too, but they have more kids.
