Such colloquial expressions are a minefield by anyone speaking any non native language. I have many warm hearted stories about ancestors mis-stating such expressions! Best used among family and friends. If you are a non native English speaker I applaud your efforts and only encourage you! |
Thank you for the information. I was generally curious as I watch a lot of legal dramas like Good Wife. With that said, these are real people with families and I feel bad for anyone that loses a job. |
Actually, in the back of my mind I think you're a petty asshole who jumps at the chance to make others feel less than on anonymous forums. You are very pleased with yourself, aren't you? Well, you're insecure and delight in playing gotcha over ridiculous typos. You may hate me for saying it, but in the back of your mind you know I'm right. |
| Nope, can't even drum up sypmanthy for this. Know way too many snooty lawyers (my kid is at private school - we get FA) and between this and sequestor, I am enjoying watching so many parents squirm. |
You are pretty miserable to relish other people's suffering. You realize that those "snooty lawyers" paying full fare at your kid's private school are the reason your kid gets FA. Bet your an excellent example for your kid.

I think it's *fapping* not clapping |
Those lawyers are basically subsidizing your kids. They might deserve a honking cup of modesty but they are in effect subsidizing you. This is why I refuse to give to my alma mater - they didn't donate a single penny to me, I won't to them. As for the sequester, I do think a lot of Feds seem to forget that when a private firm needs to save money they fire people - what they don't do is schedule a week of holiday around a long weekend that might come with retroactive pay. Still very crappy of you to find joy in this |
That seems like a pretty obvious autocorrect mistake to me. Don't be so quick to jump in and correct others and you might see the simpler answer. |
| Not all law firms are created equal. Some are "nice" places to work with nice people.(aside from the fact that it's a law firm.) Patton Boggs, and it's attorney's, are not on the "nice" list, IMO. Arrogant is more like it. So while I feel for the people who "were separated" (patton boggs speak) from the firm maybe at the end of the day they've done them a favour. Fuck law firms, they suck. |

ah, here ya go. per the legal times, the managing partner "they are right-sizing."
Newberry said most clients were "indifferent" to the news about the layoffs—and he said he received a standing ovation from staff when he spoke to them on Friday morning. "A number of people stood up and said we're doing exactly what we need to do to make this firm a great competitor in a very difficult legal market place," he said." NICE! Cheering for layoffs! Assholes. |
DP. Oh puh-lease! Correcting others using a snotty, superior tone and then defending your tone by claiming to be an advocate for cultural competency? That's pretty pathetic. |
