For example, you could have said "hey, don't celebrate someone else's misfortune, because it could very well happen to you."

Is it weird when a foreigner who speaks broken English uses colloquial American expressions?

Such colloquial expressions are a minefield by anyone speaking any non native language. I have many warm hearted stories about ancestors mis-stating such expressions! Best used among family and friends. If you are a non native English speaker I applaud your efforts and only encourage you!

Nope, can't even drum up sypmanthy for this. Know way too many snooty lawyers (my kid is at private school - we get FA) and between this and sequestor, I am enjoying watching so many parents squirm.

Those lawyers are basically subsidizing your kids. They might deserve a honking cup of modesty but they are in effect subsidizing you. This is why I refuse to give to my alma mater - they didn't donate a single penny to me, I won't to them.

As for the sequester, I do think a lot of Feds seem to forget that when a private firm needs to save money they fire people - what they don't do is schedule a week of holiday around a long weekend that might come with retroactive pay.

That seems like a pretty obvious autocorrect mistake to me. Don't be so quick to jump in and correct others and you might see the simpler answer.

Not all law firms are created equal. Some are "nice" places to work with nice people.(aside from the fact that it's a law firm.) Patton Boggs, and it's attorney's, are not on the "nice" list, IMO. Arrogant is more like it. So while I feel for the people who "were separated" (patton boggs speak) from the firm maybe at the end of the day they've done them a favour. Fuck law firms, they suck.
