In fact the Wootton boundary line is about six blocks from the Quince Orchard school building |
Anybody that says up 270 for QO does not understand where it is. You use the same 270 exit for RM, Wooton and QO.
I voted for WJ if u work in the city. Wooton has United Sports with the Special Olympics - Hockey. ![]()

While I don't think that QO is in a location that is not manageable for those who work in DC. To compare the location of RM to QO is absolutely ridiculous... They are no where near eachother and you do not get off on the same exit. Coming from DC you can get off on exit 5 (Falls Road) or even possibly 4 to get to RM. To get to QO you most likely will be exiting at I-370 or exit #9 or you could go to Clopper Rd/Exit 10 which is the street QO is actually located on. This is a huge difference during rush hour. Even in Sunday traffic I'm not quite sure how one could think the distance between these schools is insignificant. |
The poster did not say they were near each other, they said it is not "up 270" it is "up 28". You can use 5 for RM but you can also use Rt28. I would never take I-370 to get to QO but if you live in the Kentlands you might take 370 to get home - but I would still get off on RT28. For most people that live behind QO they will take Democracy to the 1 lane bridge and up Glen or take River to get home. From Montgomery Mall... RM is 7 miles Wooton is 5.5 miles QO is 10 miles. QO is way farther West than you know. It is only 9 miles from Falls and River. |
Stop putting words into PP's mouth. It is up 270, I live right by QO. Its up 270 and West but its not that far West to suggest that taking 270 is too far east. The point is UP is UP and QO is much further up than RM. I'm not sure what the argument is here. |
It's up 355 too but I would not go that way. The idea that you need to get in that god aweful 270 traffic to get home from work if you are in QO neighborhood is not correct. I like to correct incorrect information. For the record I like WJ best as a school but hate the neighborhoods. Such is life. You can't have everything in one nice little package sometimes. |
Up or out (??) 28
Up 355. Up 270. Out Democracy to one lane bridges and little clogged roads. Splitting hairs. QO is far away. It is. Admit it. That's why houses are less expensive than those inside the beltway. My WJ neighborhood is wonderful. |
Exactly! |
Different people like different things. I am glad you like your neighborhood. You should see some houses that feed to QO they are not "less expensive". There are just further apart. |
I'm certain that for what one is getting, they are less expensive. Churchill, which seems to have been lost in this "how far away is QO converstion" offers further apart houses if that is what one is seeking. And that school is great! And I totally agree, everyone likes different things-houses, yards, commutes, time spend in car, access to shopping and stores, DC etc.

I agree with the Churchill is a great school but the OP said she was a little worried about the uber wealth. Since she is in Wooton district - QO was mentioned since it is <5 miles away. |
If she thinks Wooton is not good enough, QQ is definitely not good enough. |
|
She did not say Wooton is not good enough, though all schools come with issues. She was wondering about other schools. Since she is probably just trading one set of issues for another set she wondered about WJ and Churchill since she does not have experience with those two. When she said she did not want to deal with wealth somebody suggested QO. |
Let's get real here. Can you imagine the looks if she told her mom friends now that they are in QO.
And I am in the QO cluster. |
