| It's not a fed, non-fed issue. There are security issues with inauguration and parade route. Last time my office was shutdown because snipers had to be on our roofdeck and building closed as part of route. |
That's what she said. |

When is Inauguration Day 2013? The official Inauguration Day is January 20th. However, as that date falls on a Sunday in 2013, the public swearing-in ceremony will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013. |
LOL!! |
| Whatever! |
my God! What better day, fool? wtf? |
| I always thought they should just bag the inauguration in the case of re-election. The guy (or possibly gal in the future), is already in office and has already taken the oath, why go through it all again? Seems like a waste of time, money and effort. |
| MLK Day is the only holiday I don't get. There are many figures in our history and he's the only non-President, non-founder. Next thing you know there will be Obama Day. |
Lots of private employers don't give MLK off. Doctor's offices are usually open. Retailers are ALWAYS open. My employer (consulting firm) is open, hubby's CPA firm is open. |
It's not an extra vacation. It's a please stay away from the security and logistical nightmare. Same thing when we have the former president's funerals. We have to many people to gaurd would the GSs please go home |
Good Lord willing. |
Racist |
I thought they did bag it. |
Colleges are open that day. I remember not having MLK day off in college. |
| ^how long ago were you in college? |
