Have you ever seen something that disturbed you so much that you have never forgotten about it?

When I was 17 yo, I saw a police photo that a classmate brought in. It showed the after math of a motorcycle accident on the freeway. The first thing I noticed was the dismembered leg, gutted torso, and then the decapitated head of the deceased motorcycle accident victim. His back tire got flat while he was on the freeway and he got disabled. Several vehicles, including a truck, that was traveling behind him ran over him.

The way we treat factory farmed livestock. Turned me into a vegetarian. Trying vegan. It is more horrible in person than even the human society exposes.

17:18, that was Jeffrey Dahmer (the boy escaped from him and the people who found the boy gave him back to Dahmer and he was killed). Horrifying.

Dad was a small town ER doctor, and occasionally took me with him. Saw lots of injuries, some pretty bad. But the one that stuck with me was minor. It was an old lady with a cut on her head, and her family had wrapped her whole head in paper towels. Which of course soaked up the blood and made it look really severe and gruesome. Dunno why that affected me more than the guy who half chopped off his leg with an axe.

I was riding in the car with my DH on Rte 70 near Damascus one afternoon when we pulled alongside another car in the next lane. The driver was a middle-aged man, driving alone, holding the wheel with one hand and a pair of lacy women's panties in the other. As he drove, he was sniffing the crotch. He caught me looking and grinned maniacally. Freaked the crap out of me.

When I was 9, I was walking down a busy street to a local shopping center with my neighbor who was 11, about a mile from my home. A man pulled up next to me (my friend was about 20 feet ahead of me) and rolled down the window. He was handsome and wore mirrored sun glasses (it was the 70's and he looked like Jon from CHips). He asked me for directions. I heard a strange noise. When I looked down, he was wearing no pants, and jerking off. I had no idea what this meant, but I knew it was all kinds of wrong. The sound was his balls slapping his thighs. I ran away as fast I could.

One of the stories was about a dad who's car alarm went off multiple times during the day and he looked out the window, saw it was nothing and used his remote to turn the alarm off. At the end of the day when he realized what happened and the police came he tried to take their gun to kill himself.
Yep. I've never forgotten that either.

Believe it or not, something like this happens almost every year somewhere.

Having been in law enforcement for 30 years, I've seen alot of disturbing stuff; most of it human-related. As a result, I now have more of a soft spot for animals.... I can't stand those shows or tv commercials that show abused or neglected animals; animals being hunted; animals being eaten by other animals, etc etc. Much more distressing to me then seeing a dead human body....

I don't know why this resonated with me but I saw this old man, eating dinner by himself. The waiter asked him if it was just one, and he said "always." I thought about all the lonely people in this world, eating dinner by themselves. It just made me really sad.

I saw an Oprah a few years ago where she had child molesters on to interview them. Sort of a cross between my feeling so repulsed and angry. I still think about this one old man talking about how excited he got when the boy was giving him a bj. Unfortunately I can't forget it

I was 18 and traveled abroad with a school group. I mostly explored on my own, had no cell phone, but was always meeting up with friends at the end of the day. We were studying literature on the trip and one of the stories involved a man with green eyes and suggested he was molesting two boys. I sat at a cafe drinking coffee when a elderly man with a opaque green eye sat next to me. It was hard to look at him but he seemed harmless. He asked me to watch his coffee and then said he would do some obscene (insert words here) to me when he returned. I could hardly believe what I heard, but got the hell out of there an luckily ran into my friends at our meeting point. It was surreal to feel like that literature came to life.

A few years ago I was driving my child to school early in the a.m. It was winter and there was a little snow on the ground. When we got to the top of the hill nearly a mile away, we saw a driveway taped off with police tape and a tarp covering something in the yard by their front door with police standing around. Found out neighbor had committed suicide and wife dragged his body into yard so kids wouldn't see. We didn't know the family but every time I pass the house that image comes to my mind.
