| Set of big, funky bowls. Piece of art of an artist from a trip we all went on together. |
| Kitchenaid mixer. BEST. Appliance. EVER! Use it so much.. |
| Ok this dates me, for my first marriage, I asked for a slide projector and my cousins got together and gave it to me. I didn't expect anyone to give it to me. |

I would find the hole in their kitchen stuff and fill it.
Besides the excellent knives, pots/pans, Kitchenaid mixer, one big-ticket item is a Staub enameled cast iron dutch oven, especially if they eat meat or are into traditional European cooking. Also a nice idea to find something on their honeymoon - if they go to Paris, for instance, you could arrange a credit at Dehillerin. |
| Or, if you know where they are staying, call the hotel and have champagne and strawberries and some chocolates delivered to their room. Friends did this for us....very nice to come back to our room after a day lounging in the sun to find this treat waiting for us. |
I love how you're implying that I'm not upper class here! Anyway, note that I didn't just suggest shutterfly, I suggested two higher end printing options as well. Professional photographers use Adorama and Miller's (Mpix is the consumer arm of Miller's). I could have suggested other sites, but you need a business tax id in order to buy from them, so that wouldn't have been very helpful regardless of what class you are! Anyway, I'm so about to do a spin off thread about who still prints out photos. Ta ta, my dear upper class friend! |
Never use mine! |

We got two presents that really stand out in my mind, one from our registry and one not. From our registry, we got high quality waffle maker. We thought it might be nice to have to use occasionally, but we have ended up using it almost every weekend, and now that we have a kid, he loves having weekend waffles with us too! I never would have guessed that it would become our most used gift, but we absolutely still love it! http://www.amazon.com/Waring-WMK600-Double-Belgian-Waffle-Maker/dp/B0034JU9T6/
The other gift, which which was a really thoughtful surprise, is a big rectangular piece of glass. On one half of the glass is a picture frame, where we put a wedding photo. The other half a the glass is an etched copy of our wedding invitation. I have no idea where our friend got it, but it is absolutely beautiful and it was such a wonderful surprise. |

Our Keurig was one of our most expensive registry items and friends of my parents whom I never even met got it for us. We've used it every day for 5 years.
Not on registry: we got a full set of white towels (2 oversized, 4 bath, 4 hand, 4 washcloths) with our new initials monogrammed on all of them. We have been using them in our guest room ever since. A second set of matching towels was something I would not have thought to get for myself and wouldn't have been a priority then, but it was such a great and useful gift. |

My Waterford Crystal Goblets that are gorgeous!
Then our Capresso coffee machine with a built in grinder and its fantastic! |
| Make sure your friend is changing her name before buying anything monogrammed! |
Shutterfly has only began offering photo books in 2004. So int he 8 years that they have been produced, the upper class has had enough information to discern that they will not last pst a few years and the poors obviously have decided that their minimal discretionary income come nonetheless sufficed to cover a 25-50 dollar Shutterfly book? Please!!!! If you are so hung up on de minimis markers to distinguish between the “upper class” and everyone else I doubt you are truly in the upper class. |
| Yes, there are errors in the above post. Sue me |
| I apologize...and I posted a subsequent post to explain what I meant and clarify my poor choice of words. Geez. |
