Stop Bitching, Start Packing

Because nobody ever moves anywhere else for a job and dislikes it there. Get over yourself, OP.

Yes, you, you can complain.

We plan on moving in a few years, it's really not the city, it's most of the people like the OP. The "love it or leave it" who make this place so horrible to live in.

Agree. And also agree with the other PP. This isn't a city. It's a bunch of dual zoned areas trying to be a city.

I have no problem with people venting, everyone does it, but the more you focus on the negatives the unhappier you will be. Barring poor health and dire financial situation, circumstances don't determine your happiness, you do. Change your mindset and you will be happier.

So does your bitching about other people's bitching. People don't always like where they are in the moment, and have reasons they can't do anything about it right now to satisfy you. Believe me, anyone who hates this place is making plans to leave. It just takes a while. Why do people take such offense when people don't fall on their knees and express constant gratitude for living here? It's a city for crying out loud. It's nothing personal.

Wow, you're the one who sounds angry. All I'm saying is that it's draining to constantly hear negativity. If you're stuck here for a while, maybe accept the fact it's not your dream place but make the best of it? Exhausting.

Thank goodness! I would hate to do illegal bitching.

But calling people pathetic who don't have the means to leave a city they don't like living in is the pillar of positive thinking. Gotcha.

Pollyanna people just sound drunk to me. I like people who see both the good and the bad. Real people.

I know! So thanks for checking with me about it! Appreciate it!

The whiners bother me too. I used to be one of them (moved here for DH's job), but I finally learned to start focusing on the positive. When I started doing that, my life greatly improved and I started truly appreciating everything about the area. DH is much happier too.

But some days it's hard to stay positive when everyone around you is still bitching away. At some point, you just want the unhappy people to put up or shut up.

Sorry but when it's non-stop whining, it is pathetic - and I feel sure that these people would not be happy anywhere. I'm not talking about someone who just doesn't care for the city or doesn't think it's their dream home, I'm talking about the constant whiners.

I'm moving in a month to a different city and am really looking forward to going back there. The economy is strong there and I have a great job to move to, but surely I would not have had the opportunities there that I had here for the last decade. In that regard, DC is pretty unique. I'm glad I was here, and glad I'm leaving.
Not moving to Bumble----. Moving to a real city, by the way. DC is not a city. It's a metropolitan sprawl.

Not true. DC is a real city, though not a big one.

No, OP's unbelievably limited view has DC as the center of his or her universe and can't fathom that other cities are so much better.

That's what happens when you don't travel.

So don't read these threads! It's not that hard not to click on it. Don't listen, don't read, don't engage. But this is a thread started by a complete asshole who said if you don't like it here, get out. That's going to bring out a lot of reaction from people, and then for you to come on here and refer to people who don't love it here as whining and pathetic, you're in the same boat as the OP. Close your ears, don't listen, tune them out. Take responsibility. Other people have the right to their own opinions without you calling them pathetic. They don't have to share your views.

I for one have been happy here. Then not happy here. Happy elsewhere. All of it. It's situational and family oriented and everything. Nobody on here is non-stop whining because it's a limited thread. If you have issues with people in your own life, deal with them and stop hurling it at the people in this thread.

DC is awful, McLean, Tyson's, Great Falls, Potomac and Bethesda are much better.
