OR not have enough money where that is even an option. "GAWD" You really think IVF is common for everyone in the US given how much it costs??? You think it's something that is commonly discussed? You must live in a bubble. I traveled the word extensively too, and I am an immigrant as well. Somehow through all my travels I didn't lose my common sense along the way.

This is an interesting and important point. All of this costs A LOT of money. Money many American born individuals simply don't have and can't borrow. And if not money (for the few who have great insurance ... which likely means they are lucky enough to have a good job), then time.

I seriously doubt that any parent would be so awful as to be judgmental about this! I think most grandparents would embrace it. Do you all find that to be true?

Yes. My cousin - child of my mom's sister - had identical twins. Immediately my mom started this horrible string of conversations about how she must have used fertility treatments, etc. Not to me, of course, as I'm so close to my cousin, but to my sister-in-law. The hard fact that identical twins are *not* a result of fertility treatments didn't stop her. She (all of us) have no religious objection to fertility treatments, my mom is just judgmental and mean. So, we're not telling my mom about our journey. (And FWIW: my cousin did have IVF, she did tell her mom, my very supportive aunt, and the only person my mom can talk to is my sister-in-law, as the rest of told her STFU.)
