Do you wear a quilted jacket?

I have the Burberry Brit belted and sorry but I don't agree that it's become a uniform. The cashier (guy) at Fudruckers the other day, asked me if I was wearing a Burberry Brit and proceeded to tell me about his jacket (not quilted). There's no exclusive club here as much as you'd like to think. People that are willing to spend money on quality should not be assumed to be desperate label whores.

I don't get how it's not ok to make fun of low income people, wearing what they can afford from Walmart yet anyone with a salary that affords them to buy Burberry is fair game. Double standard.

Ive had mine since college and yes I am wearing it today.

What coolege-age girl wears this. I think they are perfectly acceptable on 60 year old women. But ladies, let's dress our age already.

I know, right. It's like privileged should mean privilged to buy whatever what we want, no matter the cost, and not get picked on for it. It's totally the same making fun of me for overspending on hideous luxury items as it is making fun of someone with no real choices for doing what they have to to keep themselves clothed and warm.

I've been on both ends of the spectrum and I've worked my ass off to get where I am. If I want to buy a damn Burberry jacket I will. Keep your condescending sarcasm to yourself Bitch. I know what it's like to get handouts from the church and go hungry and be homeless. Do you??? Yes, it is a double standard. You are making assumptions about people solely based on their appearance. How dare you judge me for the clothes on my back when you don't know my history.

Thanks for sharing this. I was the pp who posted the link to the burberry site - I didn't know what everyone was talking about so I just googled burberry quilted jacket.

This one is cute too. I guess I'm just not that into trends since I've never noticed before.

Please help me, I’m trying to get this all straight so I don’t screw up and wear the wrong thing…
I understand that Talbots, Chico’s, Pandora, any quilted coats (Burberry being especially bad), any capris, and Tory Burch are all bad and I should remove them from my wardrobe lest I appear to be one of the “sheeple”.

So, what may I wear? And in wearing only what is DCUM approved, will I still be “sheeple”, but just of a different flock?

How does this work?

I love my Tory Burch super cute flats and hope that some of her fabulousness will rub off on me when I wear them.

Barbour is such a funny name anyway -- means booger in Arabic.

I wear a Barbour jacket, too. It's the traditional British quilted jacket.

Let's face it. Pretty much everyone makes judgments and assumptions about people based on appearances. When you see a guy walking down the street with his pants sagging down to his knees, you make an assumption. When you are interviewing a candidate for a job and their suit is wrinkled and unkempt, you make a judgment. When a woman walks down the street wearing a midriff-revealing tube top and a mini skirt with 5 inch heels, you make an assumption. It's human nature to make assumptions based on impressions of how people look.

Back to the quilted jackets, though. The look has become so ubiquitous among a certain group of people in this city that, while there are certainly people outside of this set who wear quilted jackets, there is definitely an impression that women in quilted jackets give off, whether fair or unfair. But nobody ever said that life is fair.

I love my Burberry -- it's a great go-to in most DC weather -- and ITA it's not an exclusive club. Love your Fudruckers' story, PP; I have had the same experience with waiters. Burberry is definitely a great conversation-starter with young women and young gay men as well.

It makes me laugh, I image most of the posters here wearing white turtlenecks under thick gaudy wool sweaters with black loafers and black pleated Chico's pants. So, with that in mind, I ignore all discussions of fashion on this board.

I am trying to ignore yours also.

Maybe you are required to raise your own sheep (organic feed only of course) and spin your own wool and then knit unique sweaters and jackets from that. Then apparently you must wear them with some sort of cargo pants.

I, on the other hand, will keep wearing my quilted burberry jacket beause I like it. And if I didn't what would the DCUMs talk about?

That should be easy because I didn't give any, nitwit.
