Do you wear a quilted jacket?

Why don't people wear more leather jackets in this town?

Um, that is actually a Barbour jacket.

It makes me laugh, I image most of the posters here wearing white turtlenecks under thick gaudy wool sweaters with black loafers and black pleated Chico's pants. So, with that in mind, I ignore all discussions of fashion on this board.

LOL, I imagine most posters in sweats and Birks.

You and I are imagining the same.

I'm not sure, but here's a suggestion for you from Neiman Marcus.

I'd wear whatever is super cheap on the Norstrom clearance rack, unless it has a furry collar. I like the quality, but prefer Target prices. We all have our preferences.

I don't know. I have one I really like but thought they were way out of style. What syle do you consider timeless?

"Every story has a bead" or is that one of the other bead/charm bracelets? It seems like it would be so much work to remember which bead went with which "story" or "special moment". And what if you only have like 4 beads. Would people think you didn't have enough special moments?

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's not get all crazy. Drive over to Arlington? I'll just stay on the key bridge and watch.

Not if I walk up to you and hurl you over and into Whitehurst Freeway head first.

Look, sheeple. It is a style worn by posh royals for decades. Either you get this or you don't. If the thought of cozying up to a fresh faced woman (or man) who has just climbed down off of a horse horse doesn't get you hot and bothered, then you will never get this look. It is called un-ironic posh/classic; either you get it or you don't. There's no convincing anyone.

"Barbour is the brand of choice by the Royals when it comes to choosing country attire. William and Kate recently wore jackets by the historic brand when walking Lupo in Anglesey last February."

"Honey Badger don't care wot you fink"

Skinny jeans and wellies: it's a thing. Sorry if your legs are too fat and or short to carry it off. Wear something else and get over it. People will always copy royal style to some extent. NBD.

But the royals actually have a reason for wearing that. If you don't ride or aren't walking through standing water, then it's more like wearing tennis whites when you aren't playing tennis.

My grandma thinks her look is a timeless classic, too.

Where do live that you never have to walk through standing water? and the jackets are multi-purpose outdoor wear. You know what? Never mind. Carry on wearing what ever thing it is you like and I'll wear what I like. But there is a reason why certain styles endure and others don't--practicality and elegance.

Lederhosen have been around for hundreds of years. Neither practical nor elegant. For that matter, I'm not sure practicality has much to do with fashion.

Wikipedia disagrees. Google "Lederhosen purpose." I was simply curious.

Not that wikipedia should be blindly trusted, but there's only so much time I am willing to devote to researching this tangent of mine.

There is a four page DCUM thread to debate what is simply the fact that different brands and styles of clothing tend to identify people in different socio or economic groups. Are you people idiots or what? We all buy products and brands that are appropriate to our socio economic group, and if you think you don't, you are crazy. My personal favorite are the women who bitch about Lululemon and other more costly brands, and then boast how practical they are wearing Target, REI, and the like. Well I have news for them. They buy Target and REI to boast about it because it conveys something about themselves. They WANT to be viewed a certain wait (usually more evolved and less influenced by brands). You fools, that is the image that Target and REI sell. Everyone is buying into some brand and the image it coveys.

Funny thing is though all the brands used to convey status and wealth in NW DC also was used in my native working class Brooklyn neighborhood that you had style etc. North Face? Check Burberry? Check!!! I was wearing quilted jacket's back in the early 90's. Never once thought it made me look preppy. But me wearing those things won't convey the message that I am of a certain class etc unless the person receiving the message chooses to do so. But hey at least i get double wear out of my North Face (look like I maybe/might fit in at preschool pickup and definetly look like I fit in in NY).
