Does anyone really give their kids apple juice?

Apple juice is as bad as heroin! I can't believe what lazy sluts of mothers you juice pushers are!

To take OP's question seriously, no, I don't. I agree. Apple juice is essentially like giving candy. That's fine, treats are great--but my kids are like me, if they're going to have straight sugar with no redeeming value, we're not wasting it on juice. If someone felt compelled to give juice, I hope they'd give something like orange juice with pulp.

Yeah, speaking of that, I let DD have heroin too.

I understand - I strive for healthy eating for everyone in the family.

My DC comes home and tells me about how all the kids at school - including the kids with the carefully packed lunches - are trading food all the time at lunch. All the time. So "no apple juice" mom might let her kid have a cookie, and "no crackers" mom might let her kid have a juice box, and then there are the moms who let their kids buy lunch and the kids are getting cinnamon rolls only. And they are all swapping and sharing and having a good time.

You can control the food that you feed in your home, and you can model good behavior, and you can create your own healthy habits (we're a no fast food family and the happy result is that my kid has no idea what the golden arches mean...yet). You can't ensure that they never ever have apple juice or whatever your brand of poison is.

I call BS what school still allows kids to trade food? I do cafeteria duty twice a month and there are def kids who eat their lunches-mine included-I know bc they bring back empty containers and they refuse to buy. We raised our kids on healthy food-we don't do juice, fast food, etc my kids prefer water but will drink milk with breakfast and dinner. My kids will eat almost any cuisine and are not picky eaters-never were. They range in age from 3-8. I know it is easy to believe that all kids like crap but they will eat what they are raised on and what their family eats. The kids who get those nasty lunchables and uncrustables throw those things out-after they eat the candy and juice first. I bet that had we given our kids juice, and processed whatever from the start they would love them today. I love the looks on peoples' faces when my kids refuse juice, pizza, fast food etc. Even rice crispie treats. Food should taste good.

What is the big deal about giving kids juice? When I was a kid I drank Mountain Dew for breakfast every day. I don't think I ever had any issues because of it (not hyeractivity, increased cavities, obesity).

I give my kids candy, so there's no point in denying them apple juice. Everything in moderation. They also drink water, eat fruit and get plenty of exercise.

Captain Crunch or Captain Morgan? I love both but so far have only let my kids have the former.

My kids like either Cap'n (crunch or morgan) with coke. And by coke, I mean either Coca cola or cocaine. And by cocaine, I mean either powder or crack. We are a very family.

I just gave our older two apple juice today, actually.

They eat healthy. They have TONS of outdoor play/exercise. I'm not concerned if they drink apple juice, hot chocolate, chocolate milk, or eat treats once in a while.

Water/milk gets boring after a while, even for us adults. Even I occasionally crave juice or even soda (but no, we don't give the kids soda).

I probably just responded seriously to a troll. Ah well.

Yes! My kids love apple juice. But don't get me started on Capri sun!

As a pp said, every mom has their 'thing'.
So shut it up

yes, just it's just like heroin. I have track marks in my arm from shooting up apple juice.

yes, I give apple juice. And daily dessert. Sometimes twice a day.

My kids are healthy, thin, happy, with good teeth and good grades.
Somehow I don't think apple juice and sugar has ruined their lives.
