Lasers up has FAKE tracking. So many times, their tracking will say my package was delivered, when it certainly was not. Their customer service is unprofessional. I have Prime, and I order several times a week, and consistently, Lasership is late, loses my packages, lies about their status, answers their phones unprofessionally, and sends unmarked cars with non-uniformed workers to my house, which freaks me out. I despise them. And I am not the only one. There is a whole forum devoted to Lasership complaints at amazon's website. |
Well I used to love my Amazon Prime till I read this. Amazon moms sounds like a better deal (free) if you're not using the free video downloads? Or maybe I should figure out this video downloading. |
Shipping also depends on whether or not the items are coming from Amazon directly or another supplier. OP, why are you complaining about something that is free? |
Amazon mom is great, but your benefits will eventually run out if you don't order baby stuff. I had it for a fair bit - I am a stepmom to a 14 year old - you just select "other caregiver" to another child. I purchased all my niece and nephew's bday / baby shower stuff on there and it lasted for about a year. I think I will sign up for prime now b/c I miss two day shipping. Just ordered a crapload of Ella Moss, Paige, Joie, etc on Amazon with free returns, all on sale. I'm obsessed with them! We also subscribe to dog food and other items that I love having automatically delivered. |
I think this is your real problem. If you dislike the courier service so much, take your ass to the store to buy your stuff. |
| If you switch from prime to mom, they will refund a prorated portion of your prime fee. The only downsides to Amazon mom is no free video content (not that big a deal) and you can only extend it for a year. You have to order from the kids shop to get the mom extended, but theres lots of stuff in there and we haven't had to try hard at all. Also, you don't have to be a "mom" to qualify. Grandma's, dads, caregivers, they all qualify. Honestly, I think its a no brainer to switch over to mom for a year. |
| We use prime (so worth it if you factor in what you would pay on shipping fees for all of your purchases). We only buy from Amazon and not others. The few times we bought from non-Amazon companies review their shipping details carefully - they will often mention "shipping in 1-2 weeks" then if you select super saving shipping that's another week added on. We have stuff not delivered at all. The minute we complain to Amazon we've been refunded. |

OP again. The thing that annoyed me was it took 6 days just to get Amazon to *start* the shipping process. So I ordered on Monday, it wasn't until NEXT Monday that the items were shipped, and then it will take one more week for the things to get here, so that's 14 days total. (If they get here, that is...it is Lasership.) And all the items were from Amazon LLC, and all were in stock.
I used the Amazon Prime trial thing last year, and I did love it. But I just don't buy enough to make either that or Amazon Mom worthwhile. I'm just too cheap. I love the idea of "sharing" Amazon Prime though...that's a good idea! Anyways, just venting, because last year, I had no issues with the Super Saver shipping at all. It would only take 2 days tops to have Amazon send the items out, and it would always be here within a week. I know, I know, it's free, can't complain too much. Just had an awful day yesterday too, after I had posted. Awful day filled with tears. So now, this just is so trivial. But thanks for the others who responded! I do love DCUM for things like this... |
| Another benefit to Amazon Mom for the person that asked: you get an additional 15% off on subscribe and save items. And I've found with baby-related items, they generally ship out of Sterling, VA or Laurel, MD and thus you actually get them in under 24 hours (depending on when you order). |

Amazon Moms (good for any person that takes care of children) starts you with a free 3 month amazon prime deal, then you have to purchase $25 worth of eligible baby items from the Baby Store to keep adding on each extra month, plus 15% off subscribe and save items (as a PP mentioned).
Amazon Student gives you a free year of Prime, with the option to add a second year for just $39 (instead of the full price). Amazon Prime is normally $79/year sometimes with the option of a free trial. I used to buy TONS of stuff from Amazon, and took advantage of the free Prime trial, and kept it for a few years. Moved and wasn't buying as much, so I stuck with free super saver shipping after that. I just signed up for Amazon Mom (PT nanny), but wish it had an option to buy a year for cheaper (really, parents have just as little money as students do!). I LOVE 2 day shipping with Prime. I live in the San Francisco area, and most items get shipped from near Reno, NV for me if available at that warehouse location. Even when shipping from the east coast, I can order a product on Thursday afternoon/night and get it delivered by 5pm Friday. They try to get items processed quickly for you, and the 2 day shipping tends to quite often be 1 day (next day) shipping. I have even had items arrive on Saturday that shipped Friday even though they weren't supposed to show until Monday or Tuesday. And once you have Prime (speaking from my experience a couple years ago), I used to see lots of options for Saturday delivery when available (next day when bought on Friday) which I never saw without Prime. |

I was unaware that amazon had stopping using UPS. I've never even heard of Lasership! But it explains a lot. Two of our three most recent orders have gone missing. One was recovered from the neighbor a block away (same house number, different street-- this happens a lot; we've become friends, bringing each other's mail) but one wasn't.
Knowing that they've started using a different service (anyone know when they made the switch in delivery company?), and knowing how many people are complaining and requiring replacement shipments, I bet they'll look at their numbers soon and make another change. |
|
I don't think Amazon has switched. We still receive from UPS. But, the marketplace sellers use different services.
To the OP, one of the reasons super saver shipping is cheap is that they batch the shipping. So, you may get lucky and have your stuff sent out the next day. Or, you may get unlucky and have to wait a week. |
| Same thing happened to me. They show the package being delivered yesterday at 4:00 (exactly 4:00, a little fishy there). I was in my front yard from 3-6 gardening and they say the package was delivered to my front porch @ 4. Then to make it worse, I waited 45 minutes to talk to a supervisor @ Amazon and no one came on the line. Never, never ordering from Amazon again.. |
