Anyone order from Amazon recently?

Anonymous
I've noticed this as well but not just recently, this has been going on for awhile. I ordered something that took nearly a month to arrive (and when I ordered it indicated it would ship within 1-2 days). After tracking it in indicated for days that it would arrive that day and then finally they actually updated the entire shipping method (was UPS then became FedEx). Still order from them but only when I do not need something in a certain timeframe.

We ordered something on Sunday and got it yesterday.

Was it through a marketplace seller or directly from Amazon? I always order directly form amazon and get my packages next day or two day for free.

Why wouldn't you be signed with amazon moms? I've probably ordered 2-3 things a week since DS was born -- we joke that the neighbors probably think I'm having an affair with the UPS guy -- and love love love my free 2 day shipping. Diapers and many other products often ship with one day shipping at no extra charge.

16:03 has the right question -- anything sold by Amazon seems to come quickly, but non-Amazon sources are less predictable, and marketplace sellers are a real roll of the dice.

You can track Lasership packages right here: http://www.lasership.com/message.php?msg=3

I've never had a problem with them, and we order tons from Amazon.

I believe the issue is where in the US they are sending your items from. If you order from Amazon, they have tons of warehouses. If you order from another seller, they ship it from one location and are not as streamlined as Amazon's shipping department.

I've never had any trouble with Lasership. They are couriers. They work on commission and aren't provided painted box trucks and uniforms. Does the PP even understand the car insurance couriers are required to carry? Why the hell would a day laborer pay for that kind of coverage? Seriously, that's idiotic.

Could someone explain to me in nutshell what Amazon Prime or Amazon Mom are and if I should join? I mean, I know what they are, just looking for real info/advice that is not from a marketing piece from the company. I'm always weary of those kinds of things and haven't joined, but I order from Amazon a fair bit.

I have a three year old and am due this fall with our second if that makes a difference (re: amazon mom). TIA!

I pay $79/yr for Amazon Prime and (most)everything comes to my door within one or 2 days for "free." Amazon has also added some "free" movie content for Prime members, but I haven't looked into that. If you buy alot from Amazon, it's totally worth the fee.

I get a ton of things through Amazon and found Prime to be totally worth it too. My DD needed underwear and I didn't want to go to the store this weekend to get it. I ordered it late on Friday and it was delivered first thing Monday Morning. Pretty impressive considering the storm.

Amazon moms just involves signing up and telling them you have or will have a child. In essence you're exchanging your email address and the fact that you're a parent for free 2-day shipping on orders and returns with no minimum dollar amount. But it's free to sign up. In effect you get all the benefits of Amazon Prime without paying $79/year for it. You have to order a certain amount to keep it active, but that's easy to do. And while I assumed they'd be selling my email address to every parent focused marketing company, I really haven't noticed any increase in spam or junk mail...

Is it good for most anything Amazon sells (like Prime) or just for baby stuff?

20:17 it's good for everything you by on Amazon, just like Prime. I've used it for coffee, picture frames, you name it. The only thing I've found so far that isn't exactly the same as Prime is that you don't get the free video downloads on Amazon's movie/tv streaming service, which 'real' Prime members do get.

I agree that regular shipping has slowed. We signed up for Amazon Prime and it's great. We also have a Roku and there are quite a few free kid's shows included.
