Adults at movie theatres....WHY?

Please stay in the 'burbs. I like my Gallery Place theater without you annoying MD and VA folks.

NO one said anything about race on here. Please take your attitude elsewhere!

Including the 10:00 showing of shutter island and inglorious bastards. And my DH and I pay a lot to get a sitter so we can have a nice kid free date night. I've just given up and go to the cinema drafthouse in Arlington. They card you at the door.

They used to have a Cinema Draft House in Bethesda and its gone now. It was where the Whitney apts (spelling) are. Is there smoking in the Arlington one? I knew it was there but did not want to go if smoking was allowed inside? I loved going there!

Lol. You're as ancient as I am. RAWR. DCum dinosaur.

Worst thing I ever saw a few years ago at the Potomac Yards theatre was a caregiver (I think mother, but could not be sure) who brought a young baby and a pre-schooler (3-4ish) to a slasher film (Halloween remake, IIRC). Poor preschooler was sobbing his little eyes out from terror and begging to be able to leave, but was ignored.

I saw a couple refuse to move for another movie goer once. Talk about entitled. The whole theater hated them for not moving. Why not just tell the whole theater you need therapy? Wouldn't that statement have been less obvious than your proud to be rude actions? Funny as hell.

Pre-kids, I remember going to a 9 p.m. showing of Training Day and seeing several little kids, and thinking what the fuck? Now that I have little ones of my own, I find it thoroughly depressing. I have to say, I see most of my movies at the Majestic theater in silver spring and haven't really had problems with people texting during the show. It seems like no one can stand to sit through the pre-movie promos without being on their phones, but once the movie starts I've never had a problem, and I have a super-low tolerance for that shit. Again, pre-kids, I got into a fight with some snotnose teenagers who could not stop texting during a showing of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days at the Rio. DH was horrified at how I yelled at them.

Ha I like you... The yelling and DH getting embarassed sounds like me!!!!!

Pre-kids I had a woman yell at me for daring to challenge her "coat on the back of the seat save half the row" BS. I just sat down and ignored her coat and she yelled in my face and literally no one ever sat down on those seats that she saved. This was in New York where everyone just yells. I used to be very bad-assed pre-kids.

Anonymous wrote:Yeah we've had mixed experiences depending on the theater. We don't go to Eisenhour anymore - 7-8 years ago it was fine, but it is pretty skanky now and kids run wild. Last time we were there a few years ago, there was no toilet paper in any of the 3-4 restrooms!

Potomac Yard was out of control.

We have had great luck with Fairfax Corner and Kingstowne.

in you reference to the Eisenhower theater, is that AMC Hoffman 22? DH and I were there screw weeks ago and no toilet paper in at least 5 or 6 of the stalls! It was an otherwise nice experience- no crying babies, no people talking or texting on phones, etc. And I wad happily surprised that the tickets for our evening shoeing were "only" $11. We haven't been out to the movies in forever...probably 3 years...and I was expecting like $17-20 per ticket!
