| Legs look better in hose. That's why they were invented. |
| Ladies (and I use that term loosely), please put your claws back in--hose, no hose does it really matter, or do you just feel like being extra bitchy today? |
What is your problem? That is the whole point of the beauty, fashion forum. Why are you on here if you don't like posts like this??? |
| dammit, I need to look at dates when I post things - this is over a year old, why would you bring it up to post "Legs look better in hose. That's why they were invented"???? |
| LOL, I was about to check the weather to see how cold it was going to be this weekend. (didn't notice date either). |
| OMG! Me too. FWIW...I plan to be bare until Columbus Day. After that, the fall wardrobe comes out, and the self tanner goes away. |
|
It's ok to have tan, bare legs in autumn and spring. It shows you can afford to go on a sunny winter vacation.
And there are these things, they call them sandal toe hose, for the times when your legs aren't looking so sleek bare and you don't want to wear those uncomfortable new "toeless" hose. Get them to mathc your skin tone or maybe jet black with a little glimmer. And yes sexy strappy sandals are fine during the cold months for indoor events. Peeptoes are also very in right now. |
| How old is everyone posting? Unless I'm attending a formal event, I'm pretty sure my friends would all laugh at me about wearing hose (I'm 26) just to go out to a nice dinner. Actually, I know they would because I did it last year because it worked better with my shoes. They called me grandma. Tights? Awesome. Black hose? Cute under the right outfit. But nude hose, at least in my apparently whorish circle, is not the norm. |
| I have noticed "the younger set" has different rules about hose than I do (I'm 51). Just asking out of curiosity - when did pantyhose become old fashioned? (I sort of missed the memo -- must have been in those years I was a SAHM with young children and rarely wore dresses.) |
I'm the 26 year old poster above you. I don't necessarily think it is old-fashioned, I think it is just a different style for different age groups. Let's be honest PP, would you wear some of the stuff that 20 year olds wear? Maybe...but I'm guessing not a good chunk of it. People in their 20s and 30s (I'm assuming) don't have the same type of legs that 40, 50, 60, 70 year olds may have. Again, sorry if I don't get the ages right, I'm pretty much guessing here when skin starts to change. I can totally understand wanting to wear hose to camouflage spider veins and age spots. Most 20 something year -olds don't have to worry about that yet. It is also more common for older women to wear hose, so you may be seen as the odd woman out if you don't wear hose...whereas I'm seen as the odd woman out if I do wear them! I think I stopped wearing them around 15, when I was finally able to convince my mom that no one wore them anymore. I will say, I do know some friends (and I've been guilty of this) who buy control top hose and cut them right above the knee to wear underneath formfitting dresses. |
| I work in a more conservative office, and I would look silly wearing a suit with no hose. Maybe you can get away with it up to a certain point. |
| I stopped wearing hose the moment spanx were invented. |
| I usually go with bare legs or tights/boots in winter. But for a formal dress in the winter I think hose just makes the outfit look better. |
|
I just think it looks dirty, naive, and unfinished when a person isn't wearing hose. Younger women I cut some slack, but say 35 and older and I think it looks so bad.
I'm in my 30s and not from a conservative family or area. |
| I have to say I laugh every time this comes up, I am 34 and the only people I know who ever wear hose are old aunts. I would think it was odd to see somebody my age wearing hose anytime of year. |
