Starbucks at Metro Center. Simply the most pleasant, friendly, lovely staff you can imagine.

Can you elaborate? Looking for a new car in 2011...

I will give out a shout out to Starbucks as well. The ones by work and home - they are mostly very quick, get confusing drink orders right most of the time, and are usually polite. Not every employee, but some are just awesome and make going to work more pleasant.

Belfort furniture. I bought bunk beds for my DDs there. 13 months later, they were peeling and cracking. They only warranty for 12 months, then you are supposed to deal with the manufacturer. I complained that I had expected them to last for years. They agreed and gave me a credit for every penny I paid toward a new set of beds.

PP here. I should add that Belfort no longer carries the brand I had originally bought because of the quality problems. They fully acknowledged the problems (which were not their fault) and took responsibility.

Chiming in to agree that Belfort rocks! Nothing but great service from them. We moved this year and I bought several things from them. Great sales guy, great deliver guys, etc.

Ace Hardware in Tennleytown.
As soon as you walk through the door someone is asking what they can help you find.

whoops, that would be Tenleytown.

Safeway in Georgetown and Restoration Hardware. Nordstroms is a given - love that store!

I wonder if these positive characteristics will ultimately be what differentiates the brick and mortar stores that survive internet shopping? Personally, I internet shop to avoid surly salespeople, among other things.

Was just there the other day and there was no one around to help. I went to find someone and there was this older worker who purposely avoided any eye contact. WTF? And there were ten or fifteen people waiting in line in that tiny space.
