Harris Teeter in DC. The manager opened a check-out line for me when my son was crying to help me get out of the store quicker. Sure, it probably helped his customers too but I'd never had that assistance at Safeway or Giant.
Also, HT employees always seem to go out of their way to help me. If I ask for something, they exhaust every avenue possible. Or if I'm just walking down an aisle with a quizzical look on my face, they'll ask if I need something. That level of customer service plus free cookies and balloons means I pretty much shop there 110%. If HT had $3 Chardonnay I'd probably give up on Trader Joes completely. |
| AAA saved my ass this year on the beltway-best $100 and change I spent all year. |

Harris Teeter is the only grocery store I know of that pays their employees bonuses - all employees, down to cashiers. They get the bonuses based on the performance of the company that year. Brilliant carrot, if you ask me. |
| I will second Amazon - we had trouble with UPS and sent an email to Amazon about it, just to let them know of the issue, and they apologized on behalf of UPS and gave us a $10 credit for our trouble - which was more than we got out of UPS, which was the one who had f'ed up. |
| Au Pair in America Have used them for 3 years now and have had great service at both corporate and or lcc. |

Crate and Barrel. I've gotten some broken/chipped china and stemware from their online store and have ALWAYS gotten a replacement immediately and was never required to send back the damaged item.

Whole Foods, especially the one in Glover Park. Employees are efficient and friendly.
Patagonia. Will accept any return at any time for any reason. Well worth the money for exercise and outdoor clothing since they will last forever, and if they don't, they'll be replaced for free. Lands End for kids clothes, especially winter gear. Same as above. Politics and Prose, Sullivan's Toys, Child's Play Toys. |

| Air Tran- don't laugh but after a delay of two hours I received a voucher in the mail for a free ticket to any of their destinations- and I hadn't even complained. And I was able to use that voucher without any problem. |
