What are you hearing about the snow that's coming?

This is the worst place for snow. Obama is right about one thing, the place shuts down. Bunch of helpless people, for sure. Whiners.

It shuts down in the Twin Cities, too.

Having grown up in the Midwest, I find that extremely difficult to believe. I've never been anywhere that's as stupid about snow as the DC area. I mean seriously--they close the schools here before a single flake even hits the ground. When I was a kid we had to have at least a foot before they would even think about it. Obama was absolutely right.

I'm pretty sure they won't close schools tomorrow.

Thank you Minneapolis person. Thank you, thank you.

The balls on these people to be stupid, incompetent, and ask for help? More stupid than I thought! But typical.

Obama did nail it.

PP here. Meant to add the attitude won't help them. They aren't even funny.

I HATE snow in D.C. They freak out like its the end of the f*cking world. In other places, they band together and help each other. That is what it is about. Imagine.

Are you going to deliver us toilet paper and milk then?

I don't get it. Why is it so impossible to drive to the store in an inch of snow and get milk if you run out?? The world doesn't shut down just because it snows. Unless we're talking about another snowmaggedon (which we're not) I just don't see the big deal.

Do you not notice all the incompetent drivers when it doesn't snow? The snow multiplies that incompetence.

I'll agree with you to a point, but sorry--in my book that's still no excuse to throw up your hands and act helpless (or to feed the idiocy by clearing the stores of every loaf of bread and roll of toilet paper in a 50 mile radius).

UPDATE 3:55 p.m.: Looks like we're facing a big-snow scenario. The National Weather Service has upgraded its storm watch into a Winter Storm Warning for D.C., Prince George's County, Arlington, Alexandria, Baltimore and other counties around the region.

Six to 10 inches of snow is possible during the storm warning time period, which is from 6 a.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday. The snow will begin around dawn on Sunday and become heavier in the mid-morning. It will continue to fall steadily through the evening before tapering off on Sunday night.

I have a 5:00 pm flight from Dulles tomorrow, with a connection in Denver - I'm starting to get a little nervous about getting out.

Might be delayed but you should get out. There is likely to be a big cut-off for points west of I-95. Now if your plane is coming from the northeast (Boston???) then you may have can't-get-there-from-here problems for equipment/crew.

The forecast is unpredictable right now. We are on the edge of a big snowfall. So if it moves a bit to the east, we get a moderate snow. If it moves a bit to the west, we get dumped on.

We have a flight out at 7:00 pm from BWI. Hubby says no way will they close the airport or cancel the flight.....I on the other hand am beginning to think we may not get out. Not sure I want to drive all the way to BWI in the snow.
