What are you hearing about the snow that's coming?

You probably do not want to be on the roads northbound anytime after late morning tomorrow.

Do you really think so? I figured onec I get into New York State the highways should be OK -- they have snow plows and other equipment up there, don't they?

I mean this isn't a blizzard -- it's a snow storm.

If you know how to drive in the snow, it shouldn't be a problem. But would you trust the fact that the other people driving in the snow actually know how to drive in the snow?

Your call.

If you plan to be driving in the snow, it's always a good idea to have more than half a tank of gas.

If you think it's going to be so bda that you will be living in your car -- stay home.

Can someone explain why snow would result in anyone living in his car? Seems worse than just staying home from a practical point of view.

What about driving north on 95 Monday morning to NJ? My sis says they (in NJ) are supposed to get 6-9 inches, but I figure driving Monday morning once the storm has passed won't be so bad - am I correct?

Latest models seem to suggest a stalling storm off the coast, so that NYC/CT get nailed. If you will be driving north of that and pretty far inland, you should be ok.

I always think of that family in Oregon or Wash. or Calif that was driving to relatives for a few hours. Snowstorm hit. They lost their way on a small mining road that wasn't supposed to be open. Dad went to get help and died. Mom and girls served on breast milk.

That's "living" in the car.

Winter Storm Warnings are now posted for DC/Montgomery County.

Filling up your car with gas before a storm is also so you have gas for going to the store, work, evacuate, etc if the area loses power and the pumps don't work.

this possible storm is driving me crazy -- tough to make plans!

I HATE snow in D.C. They freak out like its the end of the f*cking world. In other places, they band together and help each other. That is what it is about. Imagine.

Are you going to deliver us toilet paper and milk then?

I don't get it. Why is it so impossible to drive to the store in an inch of snow and get milk if you run out?? The world doesn't shut down just because it snows. Unless we're talking about another snowmaggedon (which we're not) I just don't see the big deal.

I wouldn't help someone here if my life depended on it.

This is the worst place for snow. Obama is right about one thing, the place shuts down. Bunch of helpless people, for sure. Whiners.

It shuts down in the Twin Cities, too.

Having grown up in the Midwest, I find that extremely difficult to believe. I've never been anywhere that's as stupid about snow as the DC area. I mean seriously--they close the schools here before a single flake even hits the ground. When I was a kid we had to have at least a foot before they would even think about it. Obama was absolutely right.
