OP the 1400 should be submitted to Wake as well as W&M and W&L. Do not submit to Davidson. It is a great in-range score for those other schools when the test required data is used.
Our private school recommends 1300 and up sent to those 3 schools depending on the breakdown of reading vs math . |
| I think Lehigh is a good suggestion. Perhaps also consider Villanova. |
Davidson is an easy admit at our private, no one has been denied in the last five years, and nearly all applicants were not in top 20 percent of class. Easier than Wake and William and Mary -- W&L loves our private as well. |
Don't submit at Wake, it's below the median. It's above the median for William and Mary only. |
| Colorado College is very strong in environmental studies. Students take one class at a time for 3.5 weeks. The environmental study students visit sites all around the world during their class time. |
Adding all SLACs and Wake are very comfortable with test optional (Wake was test optional for a decade before COVID). If grades are strong and private school has a strong reputation for academics, no reason to submit test scores below the median. |
|
Wake and W&M have the same 50th percentile SAT score (1450), according to the latest CDS. |
Then don't submit for either. |

With respect to your son's interest in economics, this analysis, which is based on faculty scholarship, may help you compare choices from among liberal arts colleges:

| Richmond would be a really good match. |
| Bucknell, Lehigh, Franklin & Marshall, Union, Gettysburg for a safety |
For a kid interested in East Coast options similar to W&M and Wake?! |
Where are you getting this data? The median SAT at William and Mary is 1450 with 48% submitting, Wake is 1450 with 24% submitting, Davidson is 1460 with 25.4% reporting, and W&L is 1480 with 29.7% reporting. |
Uh, it’s a kid living on the East Coast. OP lists SMU as a possible school. There was no specified geographic range. Colorado College is a good option for an environmental studies. It’s a beautiful campus too. |
