Op here. Thanks, all.

DC only took the test once (last Sept) while focusing on academics this year.
Scheduled for June and Sept.
Test prep for the first time this summer, so hopefully that helps, and maybe this June's test is a better baseline.

Planning on Wake ED0 to hopefully be done with the process, but like the Davidson suggestion, and it's been suggested by the school as well.

I think some of the other reaches depend on the test scores this summer.

W&M is an easier admit for guys. I'd recommend showing some demonstrated interest via a visit/tour if you haven't already. Also, sign up for a summer interview - virtual is possible if you're out of the area. https://admission.wm.edu/portal/interviews

This will help his ED2 or RD application if the ED0 doesn't pan out at Wake.

Full pay will help also if you're OOS.

You’re applying ED to Wake? He’ll get in. I don’t see any issue.

I think he’ll be successful applying to wake, but if you’re looking for additional schools (not sure if that was your question?) then add Tulane.

Not really. The first two are known for a slac like approach to teaching.

Davidson is a much higher level of competitive than those others, and is harder than Wake, W&M, W&L ED. Even ED Davidson is a big reach.

Try Tulane, Dickinson for easier admits than Wake and WM.
Colby is not going to be a fit based on description
