In my 50s and want to try edibles for the first time

I’m thinking gummies is a good start but would like to know what to ask for.

Haven't read the whole thread, but the best advice for edibles is to start as small as possible. Make sure you are buying 10 mg edibles (they can be much larger) and cut them into quarters like I do so they are 2.5 mg per dose. You can always dose up, you can't dose down.

Edibles are fun, they're much different from smoking. I like both. I like edibles because I still do errands and get things accomplished on them.

Wait, you drive on THC?

Ah, and here we go, another "scary marijuana" post. Probably from someone who lives in a very illegal country who doesn't have any idea what they're talking about.

My brother lives in Moscow and is in his 60s now. He has regularly flown over time to Amsterdam to get his fix. He has 4 adult kids and 4 Ivy League degrees.

I can see how this send you into a psychotic break. Taking a 5mg gummy will give you a nice, controlled body high for a few hours.

You can go lower than that. I sometimes take one that has 2 mg THC and 20 mg CBD. No one is having a difficult time with that.

This dose gives me the best sleep of my life, as I’m falling asleep. I feel like I’m in a cloud, and I wake up, totally refreshed.
Plus a million

Big fan of gummies, but they do mess with REM sleep, so you might fall asleep and even stay asleep longer, but the sleep quality is lower. If those are problems normally, it's still worth it! Garmin sleep tracking is NOT A FAN though.

OP, if you're just starting out with weed, go for the 5 milligram (mg) gummy/candy dosages.

The rule with edibles is that you always start with less to see where your baseline is. Edibles go through your digestive system and not your lungs, so it takes like 2 hours for an edible to kick in, and it can take from 6-8 hours for the THC to vacate your system. You'll feel right as rain afterwards, though. There are no weed hangovers. You just stay a lil high a lil longer.

I personally like these new vaporizers they have at my dispensary. The products they have advance by the day. Last time I was in a dispensary was 2 years ago, then I went in in March and the entire menu was different.

The vaporizers are dual cartridge and disposable, 1gm sativa on one side, 1gm indica on the other. There's a button you can move to engage only the S side or only the I side, or for a hybrid you slide the toggle to the middle. They now have 2g units like this for $70, when before I would have had to buy four .5g disposables at like $35 each.

They also just have straight up 2g cartridges that fit into 510 thread batteries, another improvement on the .5g cartridges.

Don't let the trolls scare you. They're almost all guaranteed to have agenda accounts.

I am 100% pro cannabis but the truth is that vape carts are bad for your lungs. If you really want to inhale then you should use a dry herb vape like the Pax or the Volcano. Otherwise eat your veggies.

The THC is stronger than when we were kids, and your body will almost certainly respond differently at your age.

Low and slow, OP. Low and slow.

My friend gave me a quarter of one (so like the size of a pencil eraser) and I still ended up on my kitchen floor eating ice cream. I just wanted a good night’s sleep! Not doing it again.

Do you know the THC content? I’m the PP, and I have to be very careful about THC, as I tip to anxiety quickly (and panic/paranoia is a startlingly short step from there). But I can do a quarter of a very low dose THC.

The problem with edibles is that they last too long. It seems like it goes for 8 hours at the same intensity.

So many scientists and pharmacists on this thread.

The amount of fear and misinformation in here is astounding. Get some 5mg gummies of an indica strain and cut it in half. That's the equivalent of a 6 ounce budweiser for somene that wants to try drinking.

Complete and utter horseshit. The half like of THC is 6 hours. It's 100 percent out of your system in 8 hours.

They will give you one thing for pain from an injury, another for arthritic pain, yet another to stimulate appetite, another for relaxation. They will also talk with you about how much/little when you're first starting out.

The people who work there are very knowledgeable- go up to someone older rather than a guy in their early 20's.

And what medical training do they have for all this?

They are just “knowledgeable,” per the PP who is also in the “industry.” Isn’t that enough for you?

Can someone explain how to get these gummies? -not op

I'm a dummy when it comes to anything related to this. I have never tried anything like this, ever.

So why would you want to start now?

Of course. It's all such a holistic, healthy, grass roots industry full of knowledgeable and caring people looking out for your best interests, much like the alcohol and tobacco lobbies before it.
