New PVS website design by a college intern?

I agree that the new site is not as easy to navigate and hard on the eyes. It is okay on a computer but terribly on a phone.

I used to believe it was one of the best sites out there for ease of information and use. Now is it jumble. Honestly it is like AI put it together.

PVS probably lacks the money to hire a real web developer, which is unfortunate. They should have realized that the site they designed is not mobile friendly and since the majority of users access the site on their phone it is very short sighted.

They would do better to spend the extra money and hire a professional.

The site not unit violates design principles, it may not be ADA Compliant either.

The site not *only violates design principles, it may not be ADA Compliant either

Not an expert, please explain the ADA compliant comment?
.

Is this really a thing?

ADA compliance generally means following WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines, which include:
Keyboard Navigation: All features must be operable without a mouse, using only a keyboard.

Screen Reader Friendly: Proper HTML markup, labels, and aria-attributes are necessary for screen readers.

Color Contrast: Text must have a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against the background.
Alt Text: All images must have descriptive alternative text (alt text).

Video Captions: Video and audio content must have captions and transcripts.

Scalable Text: Text should be resizable up to 200% without loss of functionality.

So scanning the website for ADA compliance, it fails all over. Which means it could be sued for not meeting the law. It actually has a tremendous number of flaws so if anyone wants to litigate you could make some great money.

This site now violates so many of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards to ensure compliance.

This tells me this was not a true web designer that they hired.

Don't disagree. But it is unfortunate that PVS seems to be taking advantage of the current climate to bring in a subpar site that very much discriminates.

Link?

It is impossible to find anything on the site now which was always the strength of PVS before. It has the feel of a cheap scam site now.

So I was just on Virginia Swimming's site, which I used to think was really bad compared to PVS.

Now that I am comparing them - PVS could have just went with the Team Unify crappy site's a lot of leagues use - it would be better than what they put up now and ADA compliant.

It would then also have an app version or mobile site.

There are no design rules for websites! That's the beauty of websites. ADA rules are fine but this website fits not violate them. There is a program you can run to determine this or you can request an evaluation. This site is fine.

I have tried both on my phone and my computer and the website is easy to read and navigable. I think you just don't like change.

It actually doesn't fail any of the compliance directives. You may THINK it does with your "calibrated eye" but it does not.

I found one of the sites that run ADA compliance (thanks for the suggestion) and the PVS site fails miserably. So what are you talking about?

So I checked out the site and it appears that they are slowly correcting the ADA issues on the site. Which is a good thing (thank you DCUM). It is still not there but there is some tweaking going on to improve the site.

Go to officials certification. The words don’t even fit on a phone. Then when you want to see something for each role, you have to scroll all the way sideways.
That is not mobile-friendly.
Also if definitely violates ADA guidelines.
