New PVS website design by a college intern?

So the new site is pretty bad and violates a number of design principles. Anyone know why? What is the story?

It is impossible to find anything on the site now which was always the strength of PVS before. It has the feel of a cheap scam site now.

There’s another thread here about the new website. It’s not done by an intern, but a parent. There was some controversy surrounding the firing of the previous webmaster?

It is some swim parent freelancing as a web designer which explains some of the questionable choices made with the site. This is not their full time job and it shows.

PVS should have hired a real web designer.

Why did PVS need to revise it? If it ain’t broke and all.

The color choices are painful and the site is utterly useless on a cell phone - you know, the way that it is accessed 95% of the time.

The old site was not pretty but it was best LSC on the east coast and it was incredibly utilitarian. Now the site is a POS and worthless.

They should have a feedback form. I am really disappointed in PVS.

Do you think they plan to create an app for the site? It is really difficult to use on a phone with the new layout.

You have to scroll horizontally and then make sure you are on the right row, etc. It is not easy.

This would be helpful.

Agree with the above first world problems.

The site is much nicer than the previous site, especially when accessed through a computer. Looking forward to a mobile friendly version.

The web version if pretty hard on the eyes. I don't think it was designed by a true web designer since it violates some basic principles of design. I assume that the web developer is not a professional if they are just a swim parent with a full time job and doing this as gig work.

PVS probably lacks the money to hire a real web developer, which is unfortunate. They should have realized that the site they designed is not mobile friendly and since the majority of users access the site on their phone it is very short sighted.

They would do better to spend the extra money and hire a professional.

I think that these are unpaid volunteer type positions. I do not believe that they are paid for their work.

The site not unit violates design principles, it may not be ADA Compliant either.

I thought I saw a comment section on the site.

They probably should have vetted their prior work. This is a terrible site to be created by a "paid professional."
