How much does your summer swim team charge?

$175 for first swimmer with decent discounts for each additional family member. Swimmers get a free t-shirt.

Swim club membership runs around $600 for the whole summer, so all things considered (8-9 weeks of daily coaching plus meets) it’s an amazing deal, especially if you’re going to join the pool anyway!

There are then discounts for multiple swimmers

Quoting myself to add Div 14.
Does include cap and tshirt. $600 club membership also includes tennis access.

$185 for our Division 14 pool. That includes a tshirt (but no swim cap) & college age coaches. 4 practices a week + 1 fun day (water polo).

$100 for the first kid. $50 for the second and third kid. All other kids free

This is ridiculous to me. Each kid takes up the same resources.

All of this!

$180 for the first swimmer and $170 for additional swimmers. Includes a t-shirt and non-personalized cap. We're division 16, but were division 14 last year.

Our events are not that great. The team is largely run by several controlling alpha-moms who make it their personal mission to run out team reps who disagree with them. Each year summer swim is less and less fun as a result.

I agree, this makes no sense. There shouldn't be discounts for second, third, fourth kids.

Agree, it doesn't make sense that families with less kids shoulder the financial burden.

And every family has the same volunteer hours. So my only child pays $150 + 12 volunteer hours. The family with 4 kids pays $100 a kid + 3 volunteer hours (since hours are per family). And our team does a family max, which means that larger families don’t even pay for their 4th child to swim.

Lots of institutions give sibling discounts in order increase their yield. They would rather have 3 siblings for the price of 2x than not have any siblings at all because the family can’t afford to pay 3x.

I think a better way to do it is to charge full price for the first 2 siblings and then any other sibling is half off. It’s usually the family with 3 kids that balk at full price for all three. I have two kids, and in my experience, I have paid full price in all or almost all cases. And I think the volunteer requirement by family rather than by kid is standard. It recognizes that there are usually only 2 parents at most for the largest of families.

Our team did this when we were hurting for members for the swim team. But we abolished the practice once the team was a healthy size.

Family requirements for volunteering totally make sense. But when you average out how many hours per kid you volunteer + a discount on siblings, the cost for families with one or two kids on the team is much higher.

A lot of virtue signaling in this thread.

Anonymous wrote:Geez. I guess ours is expensive at $475 for one swimmer! But this does include swim cap and all the meet fees over the summer. And it doesn't require pool membership.

Which league has summer meet fees?

I'm in Chicago.

Ma'am, this is DCUM.
