Maybe he didn’t take the supplemental essays seriously. Those are enormously important at VT. |
| Waitlisted (3.93, 1420, tons of community service). When do they find out if they get off the waitlist? |
They don't "TAKE everyone". Last year they had a yield of 23%. |
No, they actually don't. I'm glad they have essays. Some schools don't even bother with that - talk about stupid, throwaway applications. |
So maybe this kid will come off the waitlist. He wasn't actually denied. |
After RD. Late spring? |
Yep. Not sure how many they took last year. |
| Our kid got accepted in the sciences. 4.0 UW, 1590, decent ECs. Not exactly a surprise, but given the randomness and how many high-stats kids from her school apply, there’s some sensation of relief. |
| Congrats to those admitted and best of luck to those waitlisted! |
The families with denials and WL will appreciate that. |
| Kid is in! OOS, 3.9+ UW, 1500+ SAT. Very high rigor. |
That is only your invalid opinion. Those essays are critical for differentiation. Any kid who blows them off thinking they have the numbers is liable to be disappointed. |
| Is AI reading their essays? |
+1 It’s really stupid to think someone is only their stats. This happens at every school. Not everyone gets in. Period. It’s a package and really just depends on the AO making the decision. Nothing is promised. |
Congratulations! That's a great program. My son just graduated with multiple job offers and now happy in a job as a data scientist. |
