that is shocking! does he have other acceptances? do you think something could be off in the letters of rec? because this makes no sense.

VT doesn’t accept rec letters but they take the essays on community service, inclusion and goals seriously

I’m so sorry. That is surprising!

That is honestly embarrassing for VT. Why wouldn’t someone like that get in, especially in state? Appalling. I don’t even have a dog in the fight but…

The stats the PP posted here do not tell the whole story. Who knows how he answered any essays, etc.

I am surprised you didn't submit the score. The middle 50% are 1240–1420.

DS in at CNRE! 4.2 gpa

My DC 4.1W FCPS 1380 sat kid was waitlisted in 2023. I think it’s smart not to submit a 1370.

These essays are sooo stupid. These should not determine admission whatsoever.

VT has a notoriously haphazard admissions process.

My kid accepted in engineering with 1360 sat and 4.1 gpa.

I think VT is using AI in the admissions decision process maybe causing all the craziness

DS in. Business - Undecided. 4.2 GPA. Solid community service.
Sister is there and is very involved. I think that may have helped.

You know they can't take everyone with those stats, right? They have a certain number they can accept. Some kids won't get in. There's nothing "embarrassing" about it, except for parents/kids who think this school is a safety.

In for Engineering for public. 1580 SAT. 4.98uw/4.0w. Had really liked the school during visit, and hoping for scholarships to off-set OOS cost.
