I suspect this is counseling office doing hard steering, i.e. unhooked, probably top half to to top 1/3 of HW with lots of info showing them that their best shots at T50 schools are ED to NYU, Tulane, Tufts and of that group NYU would be heavy favorite for LA kids. |
| Isn’t that Tom Brady’s son in the very first link - Riverdale? |
99k is a rounding error for so many of these families. They can pay that out of cash, and purchase a penthouse apartment, too, so they'll have somewhere to stay when they come visit. Also, NYC provides a nice change of scenery for a west-coaster and provides the kid easy access to Europe for long weekends. |
Wow, yes... |
Because our kids want to experience going away to school in a different part of the country in a different climate. Then you add in top school for business or the arts and NYU shoots to the top. |
So hilarious when people on DCUM spout on about how kids who get into HYP are superior to kids who go to Ivy+ or publics. At least at NYC privates, it's just about money and connections. |
These HW kids (if you look at the instagram page) are not studying business or arts (Stern or Tisch). Global studies, public policy, and there are "individualized major"-whatever that means. Tourists in the city for 4 years. |
I do t get it. Why is that wrong? DC is hoping to spend 4 years in one of many new-to-them locations in order to experience life in a different part of the country. You may call that tourism. I call it stretching out and seeking new experiences in a way that’s interesting to them. Other kids may choose to stay closer to home instead. That’s great, too. They’ll find their own new experiences there. But staying closer to what’s familiar doesn’t make them any more “authentic” or “non-tourist” than a kid who chooses to go to school in a new city, including NYC. |
| Does anyone have a link for Dalton? |
Dalton doesn't post till Spring |
If private school is also a symbol of wealth, they will. |
| NYU to LA parents is equivalent to Tulane to east coast parents. Why east coast is not attracted to USC? |
Same with Packer and Brearley. I don't think Collegiate posts. |
Yeah, Collegiate and Horace Mann don’t post historically. |
Good for them, if you need to know I am sure you know. |
