Boarding schools don’t have good colleges. Not like NYC private schools. Lots of messed up kids whose parents want then away.

The student I know who went to one of the above boarding schools went to an Ivy last year. Exceptionally smart from a supportive family who weren’t trying to get rid of them. Such a weird and deeply negative position to take on whole swaths of students and their families.

Right? Crazy. My kid was a day student at an international boarding school. Many of the families were diplomats or had jobs that required a lot of travel so boarding provided stability. I also read about a family that was really hurt by this assumption, they had one child in boarding due to a high needs child at home, and it was a healthier option. Try not to judge, we really know about 5% of what happens in other people’s homes.

I know a family who sent their son to one. Step Dad had cancer and they just couldn’t do as much as the kid wanted to do so he went to a boarding and was able to fully participate in activities.
