+1 Billion. The “non-profits” may as well be monopolies in many jurisdictions and are cashing in off of their control of county resources and the tax advantages that come with being a non-profit.

The idea of coaches from Europe who happen to have jobs at us universities running back overseas to hand out scholarships friends and family is gross.

There is absolutely no reassign we need foreign soccer players in Division 1,2 or 3.

My local JUCO has been having guys from west Africa come over to play soccer and they all end up in arranged marriages and never leave. Go to any public park and you see them begging parents for privates.

Now they have started coaching club and ECNL teams and if you don’t train with them you need to drive several hours so your kid can play.

In my world this is fraud. Charges can’t come fast enough.

Who cares about rec? Rec soccer sucks by design. Unqualified volunteer parent coaches, players who are not committed but just looking for some mediocre soccer experience. Why are they so much more important than the serious soccer programs?

Yes marriage fraud, visa fraud and whatever we call accepting bribes for club soccer spots. I’m sure we can add tax evasion as they all offer discounts for cash money….

Hell one of these clowns went to prison for covid relief fraud and was hired by surf without a background check…. They did fire him when the parents showed them the bureau of prisons website with his picture. Guy stole 475k.

So the thousands of Rec kids who just want to play with their friends or, their families can't afford travel should give up fields so the elite few can have them? This is exactly what is wrong with our country.

THIS is the lede of the thread. NCAA needs to cap internationals in NCAA (scholarships). Full stop.

The fact college coaches created this piss poor system of soccer (by not recruiting out of high schools, like football, baseball, basketball) is ridiculous. They should only have 2 foreign players. Full stop.
