Can someone explain why it’s OK for TX but not for CA to redistrict?

I have seen literally the opposite phenomenon

What? Californias who support Prop 50 saying what TX did was wrong? That’s the opposite and that makes sense since CA put Prop 50 to the people IN RESPONSE to TX gerrymandering (which wasn’t put to a statewide vote).

The gerrymander favoring Republicans is because Hispanics have been voting more Republican, so some of these minority districts that are being drawn could end up voting Republican.

Someone didn’t see how Hispanic areas voted on Tuesday.

TX is about to FAFO. They made the districts much more Latino leaning b/c of their belief after the 2024 election that Latinos had finally move right. They may have, but it seems like rounding people up (and many American citizens) because they are brown didn't go over so well.

Texas has been notified by the Department of Justice that its districts are in violation of federal law.

California's redistricting measure was passed in violation of the California constitution. It requires a certain amount of time for a bill to be made available to be read before being voted on.
This would not have worked for being on the ballot right now, so they instead took another bill that was already posted and replaced its text.

They "amended" its text. Nobody is confused about what this bill would do.
