“They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.”

How individuals celebrate a holiday is not my business. It’s not my idea of an enjoyable event, but there is nothing illegal about it. What is disgusting is the democrats celebrating and partying while their refusal to reopen the government is leaving millions of federal employees not being paid, and our most vulnerable losing their food stamps. |
Nobody is buying your crocodile tears for Federal employees and the poor. Republicans are uncaring ghouls. |
Amen. Suddenly the federal-employees-are-lazy-leeches and the poor-are-poor-due-to-their-bad-decisions-and-laziness crowd cares about these groups?! As if... |
| Govt workers workers should party they get a free holiday and a back pay |
Democrats want Americans to be able to access and afford healthcare. Republicans don't give a shit about healthcare for Americans. THAT is disgusting, and THAT is why the government is shut down. If Republicans actually cared, they would come up with a solution. But they won't, and can't, because Mikey Johnson refuses to convene the House. Also: ACA became law 15 years ago, and despite all of the Republican snarling and smearing and complaining they haven't bothered to ever actually DO anything to put a better healthcare agenda on the table, and they have had NUMEROUS opportunities to do so, including right now, as they control all three branches of government. |
C’mon, you know the answer. |
You’re in the minority with your opinions. And I don’t mean on dcum. Look at polling. And if you don’t believe polling we will see how Tuesday goes. |
Each of trips to Mar a Lago costs taxpayers $3.4 million, so it’s absolutely our business how he spends a holiday weekend. And I’m willing to bet there’s plenty of illegal activity going on there. |

Not for the party, but for security and transportation. The estimate of $3.4 million per presidential trip to Mar-a-Lago primarily stems from a 2019 Government Accountability Office (GAO) report analyzing four early trips in Trump's first term (February-March 2017). The total cost was $13.6 million, averaging **$3.4 million per trip**. This includes: - **$10.6 million** for operating costs of government aircraft (e.g., Air Force One) and boats. - **$3 million** for temporary duty costs of government personnel (e.g., Secret Service and staff), covering transportation, lodging, meals, and incidental expenses tied to security and support. Security-related elements (personnel, transport, and protection) make up a significant portion, often cited as the bulk of the expense beyond aircraft operations. Later analyses (e.g., 2025 reports) adjust for inflation and additional logistics, pushing estimates toward $3.5-4 million. Secret service pays Trump Inc for the privilege of protecting him when he goes on vacation to his own gaudy resort. Civilized Presidents of the past vacationed on established government property. The Occupant sticks in his hand in every pot he can pilfer. |
The Democrats are the ones partying it up? We live in the dumbest timeline. |
Not if your balding god Vought can help it. |
