I think maga is self-loathing. It’s like the people who stay in toxic relationships because they think they don’t deserve better. Maga thinks the wealthy people earned every dollar of that wealth. They think those people are smarter and work harder than the rest of us, so they deserve more. So they cheer them on with admiration, much like cheering for a favorite athlete. You don’t watch your favorite athlete in the Olympics and think that you deserve to be there too, or even that you have any business on any ice rink anywhere. You just revel in their talent and hard work.
