ICE is beefing up its spyware—and it’s not just for “illegals”

Bad actors: gays, latinos, liberals, democrats and anyone not straight, white and male.

Do you want people to take this seriously? Then be serious.
A relatively small percentage of our population is male, white, Christian, conservative , not disabled, and straight.
It is not plausible that they are going to hit that 10% against the 90% of the rest of us

Thanks for sharing, smart guy.

Congress wanted to keep the patriot act in place after 9/11 and the Bush administration, so here we are. Now people don’t want it???? You were warned but didn’t listen.

Yep. IYKYK

If you guys are implying that our government has always been spying on us, I wouldn’t be surprised. But what’s different now is that the technology will be used by an authoritarian government that doesn’t GAF about the law and does not fear any consequences of breaking the law.

Certain elements in the government don't GAF about breaking the law nor fear consequences. This has been true for decades.

Read up on MK-Ultra.

The surveillance state has arrived in a big way and it’s not just coming for migrants; it’s coming for you. Anyone who’s not concerned lacks imagination.

“ Technologies purchased by ICE in recent weeks include an iris-scanning app that agents plan to use in the field, spyware that can hack into smartphones remotely and cellphone location software that can enable the tracking of a phone’s movements without a court warrant.”

“But Democratic lawmakers, civil rights watchdogs and former officials have expressed concern that ICE now has a green light not only to monitor immigrant communities, but also to carry out broad surveillance of Americans exercising their First Amendment right to oppose government action.”

The fear is that the technology will be used to go after “antifa” and left wing organizations (that is, anyone who opposes the Trump administration):

“Left-wing organizations have fueled violent riots, organized attacks against law enforcement officers, coordinated illegal doxing campaigns, arranged drop points for weapons and riot materials, and more,” White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said in a statement Thursday.

Isn't this similar to what the Biden administration did around Jsix?

Oh well, guess you didn't see that coming.

If they FA, they will FO.

Sounds like you hate our Constitution? If you loved our country, you would defend our right to protest.

That you believe doxxing ICE, riots and breaking into a foreign country as “protesting” is very telling.

Good grief, he used it for the largest manhunt the FBI has ever done when he got into office. SMH

Not remotely the same. Targeted surveillance of call dates/times/locations as part an investigation, and did not include surveillance of the content of the calls.
That is not the same as widespread surveillance of the content of people's personal phone activity.

Define “FA” on this case.

It’s passed your bedtime, Grandma.

This is how MAGAS respond when they can't truly defend their craziness.

LOL. It isn't doxxing to expect federal agents to show a badge and prove that they aren't gang members.

And what riots? Name one.

And what fellow citizens are breaking into a foreign country? WHat are you going on about?
