“Folic acid during pregnancy. Large studies show folic acid is important for preventing serious conditions like neural tube defects. A few small studies have explored whether very high levels might shape development differently, but the evidence isn’t consistent.
Leucovorin: A treatment? A rare condition called cerebral folate deficiency, where folate in the blood looks normal but the brain doesn’t get enough, has been associated with developmental differences. In children who are both autistic and have this condition, leucovorin (folinic acid) has been studied in small trials. Some studies suggest possible benefits for communication and behavior, but much more research is needed. Be wary of anyone telling you to run out and buy this.” Source: https://www.yourlocalepidemiologist.co/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email#about |
CFD has historically been flagged due to symptoms. There is no study that has measured the folate levels in spinal fluid in any population to determine how rare or common it is. I would be very wary of an Epidemiologist running amok outside his own wheelhouse. This is a neurological condition caused by an autoimmune disorder. He would have training in neither. |
| DS has been on leucovorin since the spring. It works for us. We did get the test first so we had good chances that it was going to work. |
I think you mean MTHFR. I had a repeat miscarriage work up years ago and the only thing that came from it was one the the MTHFR mutations. I took the folic acid my MD prescribed and that was it. There was SO much garbage information on the web about the right folic acids to take (my prescription was wrong according to message board "experts") and there are multiple relatively common mutations. It really is too bad women cannot trust HHS and other government officials to be a voice of reason anymore. Terrifying actually. |
?? What? |
By worked, what do you mean? What differences have you noticed in your son? Truly curious as a parent with a potential diagnosis coming for our son. |
Meltdowns went from several a day to maybe once a week or less. I can't even call them meltdowns now. More just over tired fits. The biggest change we saw was really quick. He started looking us in the eyes and paying attention to us. He seems alot happier and doesnt zone out anymore. Its like he's here now and before he was somewhere else. We didnt have a problem with speech so we didnt notice anything there. But people say it helps alot for nonverbal kids. A friend who's on it said there son started eating what they served for dinner instead of only eating macaroni and nuggets. She said he sat for his first haircut without tears and drama. |
My father's brother had ASD and was born in 1943. There was no such thing as Tylenol then so the baloney about Tylenol is just another diversionary tactic. |

To the resident troll on this board:
Trump will be speaking about autism at 4pm today so be sure to get your tissues ready lmbo |

we've been talking about this on here for a while right -its the version in broccoli but concentrated?
At least Kennedy believes in what he is doing. He's a kook but it's not a right wing, evil power grab. CDC and FDA are not evil or even corrupt but there's been "over definitive" health recommendations put out for a long time when, in truth, they don't know enough to be so definitive. Covid was exhibit A for this. I followed the recs because it was the best we had, but they over sold their recs time and time again. FDA has larger problems and too often are swayed by industry or US economic interests. I don't think we should dig our heels in just because Kennedy will oversell the folate thing. There is some science behind it. |
Are you thinking of sulforaphane? Thats an anti- inflammatory. Guess what causes inflammation? Autoimmune diseases. I dont think ive heard Kennedy over sell it. He said helps some people. Never said cures all autism. Maybe hes under- selling it. People are talking about their kids going from level 3 to 2, high functioning kids losing their diagnosis. Of course uou have to have the condition |
| And all along I thought it was my bad parenting. Not the few pills I popped when I was enormous in 3rd tri and trying to keep up with my toddler. |
| Its awful quiet here. Everything you people said was wrong. He didnt blame vaccines. He said he fast tracked a vaccine which i had never even known! It makes you really think about some of the people who write on this message board. |
There is zero science that shows what Kennedy said. Zero. Kennedy Mr Brain worm should worry about that sore throat he has had for weeks now infecting everyone near him. |
| Tylenol's parent company needs to sue RFK JR and Dr Oz. |
