Most of us look our age

I used to look younger than my age. Nothing drastic but about five years younger. Now I look my age. The wheels started to fall off the wagon at about 47. I’m 50 now and the good thing is that I really don’t care.

I’m 35 and what I’ve noticed about myself and my friends is that most of us could pass for slightly younger (like late 20s) until a few years ago. Now we all look 35. I bet next year I’ll look 36 😁

I always did look young because of my chubby cheeks. Once when I was about 30 I was leading my intern around the office and everyone thought I was the intern instead. Now I just look my age.

I want to look my age. I just want to look hot at my current age.

I'm a white woman who absolutely looks her age and I agree with this.

Same.

Acceptance is why I stopped coloring my hair. It did not match my face and was fooling no one. I looked like an older lady who colors her hair so why bother with the time, expense, and damage to my hair. Freedom!!

I’m not sure if it was having kids or just hitting mid 30s, but this is so true! Went from folks legit not letting me sit at the bar til I’d pull out my ID to being called ma'am in no time.

I never say this about myself but people tell me they think I am 10 -15 years younger than I actually am. Or cant believe my age. I am 44 and usually get early 30s. Are they lying to me or am i one of the unicorns?

Same. I don't have a single white friend over 40 who doesn't look her age. Some of us look great for our age, but none of us (not even the delusional ones) could be mistaken for a 30-year-old.

I had kids late. Prior to that, I looked 10+ years younger (people constantly commenting on me being too young to do my job, and guessing my age). As soon as I had kids, I looked my age and no one ever made those comments anymore. Sleep deprivation and parenting ages you a lot!

Once you lose a friend or two (I lost my first close friend to cancer when we were 39), you stop trying to look or be younger and view aging as a blessing. I want to look the best I can for where I'm at, but I don't care to look or be younger anymore. Every day is a gift.

Speak for yourself, OP!

I’m 45 and I have had my upper eyelids done, I Botox, I stay at a size 4, I use prescription skincare… I do ALL the things, and I’m mixed race but I’m not delusional and none of those things mean I look 35.

And it’s not just women, the amount of male friends I have who post selfies of their 40-60 year old selves desperately fishing for compliments is pathetic.

Hate to tell you, but this is the dead giveaway. Most of us can spot the Botox look a mile away. That automatically adds 5 years.

Bless your heart.

OP jealous much?

Asian women absolutely look younger than their age. Not all but most.

I look my age but I’m not so insecure and bitter that I refuse to recognize other women may , gasp, look younger than their age.

I look my age now(late forties) but when I was in my thirties, I was many times mistaken for being in my twenties, or younger. Several people asked if my son was my younger brother, my husband and I were house hunting and asked about good school districts and I was mistaken for his high school daughter. It happened so often, I even tried hairstyles to make me look older. So it wasn’t me going around saying I look so young, it was everyone else telling me that. And believe me, it has its share of negativity. Clients would ask me how long I’ve been practicing, I was once asked where my parents were while at work. I always felt I wasn’t taken seriously.
I don’t have that problem now, and I have no insecurities about being almost 50. But some women do look 10+ years younger. I don’t know why that bothers people.
