Most of us look our age

Jennifer Lopez looks so good considering her age.
Compared to Mariah Carey. I just saw Mariah’s VMA performance and she appeared almost frozen, like she could barely even walk or move. It appeared some of her dancers even had to hold her up and walk her around the stage.

I compare that to the high energy dance performances of the same aged (or by some accounts older!) Jennifer and I am even more amazed at how well she has aged.

I bet Mariah has more money than Jennifer so how is it possible for Jennifer to look/move/act so much more youthful then??

But both men and women need to work at it. No one is accidentally beautiful at 52.

Jennifer Lopez is 56 and I think she looks much more prettier now than she did 30 yrs ago (?) when she made Selena.

The Jennifer Lopez example annoys me. That woman has had everything lifted, nip tucked lasered and micro needled. Plus fake hair. You can’t possibly hold someone like her up as a standard

I think you can….based on the mere fact that the majority of celebrities her age look old already - even many celebrities who are much younger than she is.

It’s like her beauty and youth are so unattainable, if looking as good as her just required a lot of money + surgery/fillers/etc. then explain to me why other celebrities cannot look as good as she does.

Take Madonna for example, by the time Madonna was J Lo’s age she looked like someone’s granny.
J Lo is still in her prime physically.
At the ripe age of fifty~six.

Is this a serious comment? It’s bc cosmetic procedures are WAY more refined now. Madonna was aging during the filler days. J Lo looks much closer to her age in person and she has the benefit of plastic surgery advances

People on here keep saying that JLo looks so good because of expensive plastic surgery (etc., etc…..) but if that’s all it takes to look great and youthful then why do other celebrities not look as magnificent as they age??
Many celebrities look horrible with their plastic surgery results such as Gwen Stefani.
But JLo looks great, natural and glowy.

Why is it so hard to believe that someone just has excellent genes and/or works hard to look the way they do?
Credit should be given where credit is due.

Why is credit needed? I've never seen her in person but sure, ok. OP already addressed this in the original post; there are some unicorns. Point is so many otherwise normal people have the delusion they look younger than they are -could be simply because they take a good photo or only see themselves mirrored in good lighting. But it's not harmful to me or anyone else that they believe this. Maybe even helpful if it saves them some $$ not having cosmetic procedures.

She probably lift heavy while Mariah worked out with cute pink dumbbells.

Troof!

Not really. My black and Asian friends all have really bad melasma and skin discoloration and can’t use lasers. Their grays show more. They actually look worse. Sorry.

Untrue...the right lasers work great on Asian skin. And good hair coloring will cover any grays on any type of hair. Just go to a dermatologist or salon that works with a lot of Asian clients.

Plus not all black and Asian people get melisma. Most don’t.

Maybe not all but solidly most

I’m in my 40s and most of my black and Asian friends don’t have melasma.

I’m Asian. No melasma or discoloration yet. Not saying I don’t look my age, but melasma isn’t a problem.

I had to google melasma and I’m laughing!

Facial discoloration like that is standard for white women at 40. Maybe they call it rosacea?

Asian and black women don’t even start showing signs of discoloration until their 60’s.

Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez both look their age (56.)
No one on here is even insinuating that they do not.
If I saw Jenny from the block at my local Starbucks I would never think she was from any other generation but x.
Sorry if anyone disagrees but I have never seen a female who looks even 5 years younger than her actual age.
At the most maybe 2.

This is very true.
But coloring one’s hair is much cheaper than Botox.

The delusion on this thread is astounding.
Menopause is an equal opportunity b*tch. SOME (not most) Black women truly do look young. Asian women hit 40/45 and become genderless looking hags.

I work with students, and have noticed that many "spectrum-y" students have at least one parent who exhibits these traits, and also that these types of adults really do seem to often look years younger than their actual age. I wonder if there is a link between mild autism and seeming to age more slowly?

IDC if you have a baby face or are petite you still look your age . Only a very small percentage of us are unicorns that can pass as 10 + years younger .

People especially waiters or cashiers are being nice when they card you or sometimes its required by law to card anyone regardless of their age so this isn't a flex .

+1. Most women think they look 15 years younger and 25 lbs lighter. Truth really hurts.

NP

How would you know what most women think? Many women have eating disorders where they see themselves as much fatter than they are and stop eating. The pressure on women to be thin and look younger than they are is relentless as evidenced by media, ads, and fashion culture. Women are twice as likely as men to have eating disorders.

Further, delusions about being forever young are not exclusive to women. The evidence is that men are much more likely to marry women half their age. Dating websites for older people have many male bios setting cut off ages for potential partners as much younger than their own ages.

You may want to check your biases.
