Most of us look our age

Most women do if they take care of themselves, up until a certain age. Women usually age a lot in the 50s regardless of race. Most age a lot before that due to bad diet drugs and obesity.

I’m 45 and I have had my upper eyelids done, I Botox, I stay at a size 4, I use prescription skincare… I do ALL the things, and I’m mixed race but I’m not delusional and none of those things mean I look 35.

And it’s not just women, the amount of male friends I have who post selfies of their 40-60 year old selves desperately fishing for compliments is pathetic.

I find that people who do all the things usually look older than their age,

Yeah menopause is brutal unfortunately , it can age you by a decade not just looks but mentally and you might become slightly more frail .

I'm in my early 50s, but am pretty fit. Still, I'm not under any illusion that I look younger than my age. I just look like a reasonably fit middle-aged guy.

Yeah, it's a tough pill to swallow, the whole losing control of your looks thing.

I get a lot of surprise from people at being 43 with a 16 yo, but that's because I live in DC and successful and educated people don't often have kids in their 20s. It's not because I look 32.

I'm 45 and totally crap at this, but I do think I look pretty good for my age. I've never known how to take a good photo.

I wouldn't say I look 35 though. Just decent for my age. I know this is super basic but I think like 80% of it is just not putting on a lot of weight.

For whites I agree. But for people of color some of them really do look years younger.

IDC if you have a baby face or are petite you still look your age . Only a very small percentage of us are unicorns that can pass as 10 + years younger .

People especially waiters or cashiers are being nice when they card you or sometimes its required by law to card anyone regardless of their age so this isn't a flex .

+1. Most women think they look 15 years younger and 25 lbs lighter. Truth really hurts.

And men think they look more muscular and taller.

Probably around 15% can pass for 5-10 younger.
Maybe 10% for 10 years or younger.
Less than 1% for 15-20 years younger, but they do exist. Men more than women obviously.

My mom is an obese white Hispanic and seriously passes for 20 years younger than her age. She always has! Her hair color is natural and only a few greys at 75. Her skin look great. Unfortunately, I inherited my dad's Irish skin, which dries up and wrinkles by the time were 30.

Go to a class reunion of a large HS. Everyone looks same-enough. They look their age.l Yes some are thinner or have better clothes or move more confidently. No great difference though.

I don’t really care about my neck, or my age spots or my gray highlights. I play tennis, stay active and have a healthy group of friends. I don’t envy the 30 and 40 year olds, and wouldn’t want to have to go through the day care schlepping, not sleeping through the night years.

This is me too, exactly, except I only have one house. I definitely look my age, if not even a bit older, and I don’t care! I have runner’s face and I don’t care! My neck’s getting a little crepey and I don’t care!

When I see women my age putting so much time and money and effort into looking younger, it just makes me pity them. There’s a woman I know who recently gone off the deep end with the lip filler and Botox. She looked so much prettier before! It such a shame.

It's mostly because people are crap at guessing ages (and tend to assume people doing the same thing they are are around the same age) and there's a lot of variance in what 30/35/40/45/50 etc looks like.

- someone who has had people say I look ~5-7 years younger than my age because I'm "ethnic", spent my 20s inside, started law school at 30, and I'm an older mom - not because I actually look younger, but because I should be younger!
