Is marijuana a fad that will fade?

OP here. The difference is that when people drink alcohol, it doesn't create a smell that impacts everyone around you.

I personally don't care if people smoke weed, just as I don't care if people smoke cigarettes. I don't like smelling either one in public places.

Most people don’t smoke weed. Edibles are far more common. And you have no idea who’s high on other things. give it a rest.

Give what a rest? Complaining about the quality of the air that I, and my kids, breathe?

Uh... no.

Pot used to he considered safe and not habit forming. Now research shows it is habit forming and increases risk of psychosis and schizophrenia.

You know they could do actual real research if it was federally legal and regulated.

Why is existing research not "real"?

It’s the amounts and timing with brain development. Your child should avoid it for sure with the family history.

It smells so gross. Anyway, I’d imagine that legalizing it will diminish some of the allure. Without the illicitness it may as well be for normies.

It amazing how fragile some people can be.

If I ever found myself getting so hysterical at a smell as some of the people here it would be a real wake up call.

Hopefully some of these people will eventually realize how ridiculous they look and the fad of pretending it's your right to never smell a single smell you don't like is a valid complaint will fade.

Drug addicts tend to raise more drug addicts.

Nuff said.

"Reefer Madness" was made in 1936.

Reefer Madness is an American public service announcement and exploitation film about drug use and abuse. It was originally titled Tell Your Children, and it has been known by the titles The Burning Question, Dope Addict, Doped Youth, and Love Madness as well.

In the film, aspiring high school students are enticed by pushers to try marijuana. They become addicted and engage in criminal activities such as a hit and run accident, manslaughter, murder, conspiracy to murder and attempted rape. They suffer hallucinations, descend into manic-depressive episodes and insanity, and associate with organized crime. One character commits suicide.

The film was produced in 1936 by mainstream independent filmmaker George Hirliman. It was financed by a church group and intended to be shown to parents as a morality tale about the dangers of cannabis use.[2] Directed by silent-era pioneer Louis J. Gasnier, it featured a cast of mainly little-known actors. In 1938, exploitation film producer Dwain Esper purchased the film and recut it for distribution to exploitation houses, catering to vulgar interest while escaping censorship under the guise of moral guidance.[2] Esper retitled the film Reefer Madness.

Marijuana is not a fad and will not fade. I join you in the preference not to smell it in public, though.

Guess you never shared rowhouse walls with a smoker where the odor traveled through brick wall (plus overlapping beams) and your house stunk?

I remember when smoking in restaurants was normal and everyone freaked out about banning it. Now nobody wants to go back, it is so much nicer without it.

Yes odors are a nuisance.

Same chemical compounds that skunks make in their spray. 3-methyl-2-butene-1-thiol.

Evolution has made us to be repulsed by that smell.

The smell dissipates pretty quickly. I’m not a smoker of anything and it really doesn’t bother me. Cigarettes are far worse. And yeah, my neighbor smoke cigarettes, and it comes through the wall tobacco smoke smells like farts. Weed fades fast.

It’s very clear at this is a post driven by whatever nonsense Trump is trying to do with marijuana classification right now.

No one cares about pot anymore… Unless you’re old. And I technically am, but I think it’s a stupid thing to get your panties and pearls twisted about.

Anonymous wrote:No. Pandora's box. It's now accepted and I wonder if the reported decline in drinking is because people can buy weed in so many places now. People have a gummy instead of a nightcap.

I think it's fine if people want to use it but I don't think it's without problems. I can't use it myself and do not like its effects. I have seen the bad effects in others too. I feel like people have thrown caution to the wind.

Right but what do you really know about it since you don’t do it?

People are drinking less. I think. Maybe in a decade or two they'll be smoking less.

There are many ways to consume that don't involve smoking

Technically that's true, but not really.
I myself have experimented a lot with edibles. The first few times you do it, it has an effect but after about 4 times, it basically stops working.
Why this is I have absolutely no idea, but I've heard many others say the same thing.

I take a 10mg edible every night for a solid year now. Works like a charm. Sleep like a baby.

But as was just explained to you that is not the experience of everyone else. I could take 500 mg and maybe feel a bit tired.

The car that the drunk person drove home is producing more exhaust and pollution than any joint.
