Most Embarrassing Problem For Me!

What about a good old fashioned note taped outside their door? If it disappears you know they read it.

I wouldn’t be too happy if I was awakened even once during the night.
I need a good nights sleep to function properly in my job and if I am awakened the night previously then I will be grumpy and distracted.

If you're that sensitive, then you need to live somewhere where there isn't a chance of noises. What would happen if you lived on a bottom apartment and your upstairs neighbor worked in the ED on a 3p-3a shift and you heard them come home and walk around upstairs at 330am? Demand they switch their hours? No. When you're that sensitive you don't live in an old building with terrible sound proofing.

This. Apartment is a misnomer. You're rarely that far apart. You basically have roommates. If you need silence, you need to move to a SFH or a cabin in the woods where you'll have actual privacy.

Or just a more modern apt building with better sound proofing. I couldn't hear my neighbors at all in my last one. It was great.

Lol modern means less soundproofing. The buildings in the past decades are complete pieces of crap. You need an old building. I lived in a 125yo building and never heard a single peep above or below.

This is easy for the summer ~ just keep your fan on while you sleep.
But once it gets cold you need to have a meeting with your leasing agent in management and let them know that if they want you to go to work so you can pay your rent every month then they need to assure you that they will allow you to sleep peacefully every night so you can do so.

After all you are paying rent for a peaceful place to live.

Many apartment buildings are electing to replace carpeted floors now with wooden or manufactured wood floors which is a huge mistake overall - especially for units where someone lives below them.

I get it for people w/pets ➕ young kids but it is ultimately a very terrible idea when it comes to functionality purposes……

Layer your soundproofing efforts. And your sleep hygiene.

1. Fan
2. If you have Alexa, play “white noise” or buy a machine
3. Another fan
4. Ear plugs
5. Magnesium glycinate
6. Go to be very very early
7. Blackout curtains
8. Maintain sleep schedule on weekend
9. Weighted blanket
10. Calming bedtime routine, no screens

It can’t be 7 days a week, right? I didn’t see if you addressed this. Once or twice? Appreciate the other 5 days of perfect sleep

OP why don't you join them?

Carpet is nasty. I won’t rent a place that has it—I have dust mite allergies and carpet is a breeding ground for dust mites (not to mention bed bugs if you have the misfortune of getting them.) When you have pets and/or allergies, carpet is really awful. I also feel like it’s harder to keep truly clean.

Hit the ceiling with the broom and make loud fake sex noises they will get it.
