If you're that sensitive, then you need to live somewhere where there isn't a chance of noises.  What would happen if you lived on a bottom apartment and your upstairs neighbor worked in the ED on a 3p-3a shift and you heard them come home and walk around upstairs at 330am?   Demand they switch their hours?   No. When you're that sensitive you don't live in an old building with terrible sound proofing.  [/quote]

This. Apartment is a misnomer. You're rarely that far apart. You basically have roommates. If you need silence, you need to move to a SFH or a cabin in the woods where you'll have actual privacy.[/quote]

Or just a more modern apt building with better sound proofing.  I couldn't hear my neighbors at all in my last one.  It was great.  [/quote]
