Why would any given single crime make any normal American think the President should exercise a rare power to send in the National Guard? It simply doesn't. I'm sure someone got hurt by a criminal somewhere in Kentucky today. Should Trump take over the state? |
| Arlington and McLean are incredibly safe. I think this is a one off incident. Probably idiots trying to rob the place or trying to get to whoever is inside. I am not a DC crime denier, but this is a little extravagant for a bad little teenager. They typically go for low hanging fruit. |
+1 We have a house nearby and I can’t think of one family that has security. There’s a reason they felt like they needed it, and it has nothing to do with DC |
Um. Maybe it’s a good idea that the future house of the SecNav isn’t left vacant and unattended for every spy agency to infiltrate and wire? |
Please. Hegseth is a drunk on Signal. They have everything they already need. |
This thread is about Chain Bridge Rd in NW DC, not Arlington or McLean. |

So wait, the Secretary of the Navy is just a finance guy who donates a lot and lives in a $20m house, but has no actual military or even nautical experience?
What a farce our country has become. I thought that job was more important than Ambassador to Somewhere Fun. |
Every appointee is a dumb unqualified rich guy now. |
How do they know the age of the suspects if they haven't caught them and don't know who they are? The WUSA9 article this morning said "3 minors," but the most recent article on their site says "3 people." |
I live about two miles from here and have driven down that road to get to Battery Kimble Park. Like any gun violence, this is a terrible crime. I hope the victim recovers quickly and that the shooters are found and prosecuted, but the fact that someone got shot there doesn't make me personally feel more unsafe or likelier to support the federal government's intervention in D.C. It's clearer every day that the effect, if maybe not the point, of sending all these feds in is just harassment of our Latino and Black neighbors, many of whom are terrified even if they've never broken any laws. And the latest move to arm the National Guard troops stationed in the city isn't going to be an improvement. If Trump wants to reduce crime in D.C., he could start by reversing staff cuts at the U.S. Attorney's Office and by making clear that he understands that his political vendetta against officials who worked on prosecutions of the Jan. 6 cases has not made Washingtonians safer. He could also move more swiftly to fill vacancies on the D.C. Superior Court. I don't think installing new grass (?) in our parks, as he seems very excited to do, is going to make any difference in crime rates, and I definitely don't think pulling laborers out of their work trucks to detain them for immigration violations is. |

From the local listserv
Re: Shooting last night on Chain Bridge Rd- MPD assures us we are not in danger From: Tricia Duncan Date: Fri, 22 Aug 2025 10:19:58 PDT Here is a follow up to my earlier post… This message was sent to us my Lt Cullen with MPD: Early this morning, a shooting occurred in the 3000 blk of Chain Bridge Road NW, where one adult male received a serious, but non-life-threatening injury to his face. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Currently, there is a lookout for a dark gray Honda or Toyota with unknown tags occupied several times by 2 black males, 1 white male and a female. At this time there is no known immediate threat to area residents. Thank you, Joseph Cullen Lieutenant Second District |
| Dc mayor and city council lucky the Bolton raid swallowed all other local news. Otherwise the shooting of a security guard outside the 20m mansion of trumps navy secretary on one of the priciest streets in dc would be a huge story |
Does anyone know who Garibaldi was FFS? This is a shell company. Probably a Trump real estate associate. |
| I think this is a Heritage Foundation setup. |
