That is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. Truly. That poor child looks like a damn chimney sweep.

I agree, and no vest. WTH

Yeah, it looks louche.
And it looks like the parents couldn't be bothered.

There’s probably truth to that - I wouldn’t be bothered to buy a kid a suit jacket just to please someone like you. The bride, groom and young people in attendance will not care.

Why is what a child wears less significant than how the adults dress?

It’s not about getting away with anything. It is about looking appropriate but modern. Kids in a suit look stuffy and old fashioned.

Totally disagree that suits look old fashioned or stuffy on little boys. They look FORMAL, which is what this wedding is. So any little boy in a suit would look appropriate.

We did this and cool looking “work” boots, but it was a creative wedding in California so all kinds of crazy things were on. For DC, I’d put him in black tennis shoes. I think dress shoes look ridiculous on kids but maybe ask the bride?

I absolutely LOVE this. Kids provide levity to weddings and should be allowed to be whimsically dressed!

I personally find suits/vests on little boys kind of cringe, like they're wearing a costume.

Because he is a CHILD. Who will get squirmy, itchy, hot, and uncomfortable in a suit. Slacks and a button down shirt are perfectly appropriate wedding attire for a child.

I agree. Button down shirt and nice pants (khakis, navy blue etc). No suit or tie.

The kid is 7, not 2. This would look ridiculous. Go to zara, op. I bought my son a cute and comfy medium blue suit in an interesting fabric from here and paired with a white button down and tie

Totally disagree. Button down shirt and navy blue pants? That's what a kid wears to Thanksgiving dinner! Not a wedding.
