Men: if you like long hair (on women)

Anonymous
At what age is long hair kind of weird? Like either are trying too hard to look young or like you just don’t care at all about style?

At what age do most of the middle two thirds of women change to a short look?

Asking because I’ve seen more and more women lately with hair almost to their waists, which is so hard to care for. There’s a point after which it doesn’t change how it frames your face… but is is still sexier than, say, 3 or 4 inches past the shoulders?

I think most men have a primal, reptilian instinct toward all things feminine. And long hair is a part of that, almost as much as curves. But excess is excess. Whether it's hair to the butt or triple F breasts. And an attractive woman with a compelling face and short hair is still going to turn heads. I just listened to the Smartless podcast with Charlize Theron. Shaved head in Mad Max. Still hot.

Sorry, one's natural features are never "excessive". If you're talking about something artificial that looks artificial, then sure. But some people are born with a large chest. Some people enjoy having long hair. Long hair is very nearly always natural (don't know about AA hair). It can be braided, put in a ponytail, bun, etc, It's very versatile.

I reject this automatic aspersion cast upon waist-length hair.

It is fun to do different things with longer hair. I always see the young women with the two braids when we go skiing, and it looks adorable.

I'm partial to shoulder length, perhaps tied back in a ponytail.

Who knows when they actually change. But once age and gravity hit your face and hair, it’s worth considering whether there is a better more flattering style.

If you prefer longer hair on your wife, you should have to be the one to clean the hair out of the shower drain and the floor and walls of the shower, pay extra for longer salon visits, etc. If you consider any of that "high maintenance" then you really have no right to this preference.

haha. that's us.

I have just past shoulder length hair, and a lot of it. You'd think I'd be bald with all the hair I shed, but no. I still have a lot of hair. I thin it out like crazy.

DH does clean up my hair in the shower for me. He said he doesn't mind. He does prefer not short hair. And I'm 54. Not sure what it is about men and longer hair on women.

Liar. Everyone I know with long hair has natural hair. People just don't even think about fake hair, and certainly don't want the cost of hassle.

Stop making stuff up.

Some vocal DCUM posters are known for hating long hair, so of course there will be trolls pretending it's all fake and gross and doesn't make for comfortable living.

Which is funny, because all the men I know love long hair, are perfectly ready to live with long hair, and prefer it when their wives don't cut their hair too short. Caucasian and Asian men, for the most part.

I'm going to conclude that there's a small group of posters on DCUM who for some reason cannot have or do not want long hair and are jealous. Just like on the Fashion Forum, when trolls claim you can't wear a bikini past a certain age because they themselves don't have the confidence to wear one.

Every aspersion is a confession.

I have long hair and shoulder length hair doesnt even come close to "long" to me lol. Hearing someone say their spouse has "long hair, shoulder length" is like an oxymoron.

They are probably doing dutch or french braids.

Most men prefer long straight hair.

I have curly hair,, when I straighten it, men open doors for me... literally they fall over to open a door.

It's wild.

Bra strap or just covering the boobs is nice. Waist and butt length can start to look fundie.
