Wow you are not a nice person. How sad for you.

NP. May sound (read) harsh, but they're right.

It's very American to feel that just because a woman is post 30 they have to totally give up and be frumpy. It's not about electing ooh's and ahh's - it's about keeping some fashion sense and care. I love an older woman with some fashion flare.

Agree. Go to Paris during non-vacation times (when Parisians are back home from their summer holidays) and you will see plenty of older women who look fantastic.

But wear what you want?

The ones with the lemons and the cherries are so cute. I really want the lemon ones enough that I might order them.

Agree! I like the ones that are a little ruffled at the top too.

I love socks

Oncept has some great options.

^^^ I hate the shoes that look like running shoes with dresses, but it is the style.

It’s ugly, but it is the style.

I’m sticking with samba looking shoes

Nice! I like the retro indigo colorway, myself.

I wore these Rothy sneakers that are really cute and you don’t have to wear socks with them, you can throw them in the washer/dryer at home. Wear them all over Europe for two weeks super comfortable.

I’m a 55 year old mom who just traveled cross country for an active vacation. I packed my trusty Walmart tiered cotton dress (I have 5) and wore with Samba-like Reeboks from Sierra with non show running socks. The Reeboks come in Barbie pink & royal blue. Very comfortable and on o e travel day, I walked 4 miles.

This looks very out of style.

NP. Those of you making this claim sound ridiculous. Middle-aged women aren’t going to wear crew or tube socks like teenagers. Stop trying so hard to look hip that you actually look absurd. No-show socks are perfectly fine.

Give me a break. You would be all over her if she was wearing the grandpa knee socks that is in style with 20-somethings.

Right? So idiotic.

There is no functional difference between the two styles! (Unlike many other trends). The rest of us should just be thankful to not be these people and just pick whatever is at the top of the sock drawer.

The only people who care about sock length are the people who care about style. That is not remotely synonymous with "high anxiety" or "live most of their life online" or "consider what other people think in every small decision." In fact it is opposite of at least two of those things. (And fwiw you are definitely giving both "high anxiety" and "lives most of life online" with your nasty comment.)

OP wants something that will work that is at least somewhat fashionable. No-show socks are not fashionable. It isn't a big deal, wear whatever socks you want. Or don't wear socks at all. But no-show socks are out.

Yes, middle-aged woman should definitely be wearing these:

Well, will you please post an example of socks in this situation that are "in?" I, too, prefer no-show socks with cute sneakers. What should I be wearing instead?

DP. I implore you not to listen to the PP.

They are getting Americanfat now like the rest of the Europoors. You must be the one who started that obsequious thread not too long ago on “European women look so amazing”

You don’t care about fashion. You care about trends and there is a difference.

After trying many brands for this exact purpose, I would go for Veja or Gola.

I wear the Kiziks no ties for convenience.

Bombas socks are the best.

OK they may be "in" but they look hideous. Do you mindlessly follow whatever "influencer" tells you to do?
