“Always choose the bear” ??

It’s also easy to avoid all bears if you choose. You cannot say the same for dangerous men. You can assume all bears are dangerous, but if you dare do the same with men, the fragile little egos can’t handle it and call you names.

That used to be true, but bears are evolving. As a survivor of bear SA, I can tell you, it's no picnic. The stories are just now beginning to be told.

I’m not sure making fun of sexual assault and rape is the right move here.

Black bear? I choose the bear.
Grizzly? Not so fast.

There’s that rhyme:

If it’s black, fight back.
If it’s brown, lie down.
If it’s white?! Say goodnight.

Really racist.

? Guessing you’re a troll but for anyone else, this is a rhyme on what to do if you are approached by a bear in the wild. Don’t move for grizzlies, and shout/try to look bigger for black bears.

Unfortunately, if it’s a polar bear, you really have no chance!

Funny but silly.
Most all bears can be intimidated by someone who is not scared. However most people are scared.

There is an old romance novel that jazzes up the idea of choosing the bear. I thought it was hilarious that it seemed to regain popularity/exposure during the man/bear debate.

I don’t get it.

I am guessing it now means always choose the one that you have either better odds with or have fewer unknowns.

The concept is that the worst thing a bear will do to you is kill you.

They generally consume you while you are still alive, rather than killing you quickly. It sounds truly horrible.

Also, the rate at which women encounter men vs. bears in daily life is such that there's not a good way of making a comparison about the likelihood that one encountered will be dangerous.

Men suck, largely, I agree, but would still take them over the bear.

“Something tells me you’re not here for the hunting.”

Of course this joke is only funny because it’s a man getting raped.

Ah, but you can reason with the bear, right?

Uh no. Beats most often attack when feeling threatened and get defensive. They commonly target the head and neck. Most common is to grab by the neck and shake. They don’t even eat the human most of the time. Please stop man-splaining sh!t you clearly know nothing about.

Can’t tell you a time when a bear raped a woman before killing her. Team bear.

Choose the bear" is a phrase referring to a viral social media trend where women are asked to choose between being alone in the woods with a bear or a strange man. Almost universally, women choose the bear, stating it's a more predictable and less frightening choice than a man.

No. It's about women choosing to encounter a bear in the woods as opposed to a man because it is less scary to face a bear.

There are no known incidents of a bear raping a woman and then murdering her whereas they are many incidents of a man (or men) raping a woman and then murdering her.

I take my chances with a bear.

Male bears are not dangerous.
